Franco Rossi (19 April 1919, Florence – 5 June 2000, Rome) was an Italian film screenwriter and director, mainly known for having directed the six-hour Italian-German-British-Swiss TV mini-series '' Quo Vadis?'' in 1985. Biography Rossi was born in Florence, Italy. He studied law and then began to work on theatre. He was assistant director of Mario Camerini, Luis Trenker, Renato Castellani, Aldo Vergano. Rossi made his debut as a director with the crime thriller ''I Falsari''. He went on to have his first success with ''Il seduttore'', starring by Alberto Sordi, and among Rossi's other films were ''The Woman in the Painting'' (''Amici per la pelle'', 1955), ''Odissea Nuda'' (1961), ''Three Nights of Love'' (1964), an episode of ''Le bambole'' (1965), and ''Porgi l'altra guancia'' with Bud Spencer in (1974). Franco Rossi (2 January 1916 – 3 February 2006) was an Italian ice hockey player and sports manager. Career Rossi played for Hockey Club Milano from 1937 until 1950, winning six Serie A league championships. He participated in 48 games for the Italy men's national ice hockey team, playing three world championships as well as the Winter Olympic Games of 1936 and 1948. The Quartetto Italiano ( en, Italian Quartet) was a string quartet founded in Reggio Emilia in 1945. They made their debut in 1945 in Carpi when all four players were still in their early 20s. They were originally named Nuovo Quartetto Italiano before dropping the "Nuovo" tag in 1951. They are particularly noted for their recording of the complete cycle of Beethoven string quartets, made between 1967 and 1975. The quartet disbanded in 1980. The secretary and historian of the Quartet was Guido Alberto Borciani (Reggio Emilia, 20 October 1920 – 4 April 2008), brother of Paolo Borciani, the quartet's founder and player of the 1st violin part. A mechanical engineer and talented pianist, Guido Alberto founded in 1987 the ''Premio Paolo Borciani''. Francesco Rosi (; 15 November 1922 – 10 January 2015) was an Italian film director. His film ''The Mattei Affair'' won the Palme d'Or at the 1972 Cannes Film Festival. Rosi's films, especially those of the 1960s and 1970s, often appeared to have political messages. While the topics for his later films became less politically oriented and more angled toward literature, he continued to direct until 1997, his last film being the adaptation of Primo Levi's book, ''The Truce''. At the 2008 Berlin International Film Festival 13 of his films were screened, in a section reserved for film-makers of outstanding quality and achievement. He received the Honorary Golden Bear for Lifetime Achievement, accompanied by the screening of his 1962 film '' Salvatore Giuliano''.
