Franco Micalizzi
Franco Micalizzi (born 21 December 1939 in Rome) is an Italian composer and conductor, best known for his scores in Poliziotteschi films. His first success was for the musical score of the Spaghetti Western ''They Call Me Trinity'', in 1970. He had previously collaborated on composing with Roberto Pregadio the famous whistled western score for the 1969 film ''The Forgotten Pistolero'' (original: ''Il Pistolero dell'Ave Maria''). His main theme for the 1976 poliziottesco film ''A Special Cop in Action'' was used in the soundtrack of Quentin Tarantino's ''Death Proof''. His other scores include ''The Last Snows of Spring'', '' Beyond the Door'' and ''The Last Hunter''. He often worked with Umberto Lenzi, scoring his movies ''Syndicate Sadists'', '' Rome Armed to the Teeth'', ''Violent Naples'', ''The Cynic, the Rat and the Fist'', ''Brothers Till We Die'', ''The Greatest Battle'', ''From Corleone to Brooklyn'', '' Black Demons'' and ''Mean Tricks''. Poliziotteschi (; singular ''poliziottesco'') constitute a subgenre of crime film, crime and action films that emerged in Italy in the late 1960s and reached the height of their popularity in the 1970s. They are also known as ''polizieschi all'italiana'', ''Euro-crime'', ''Italo-crime'', ''spaghetti crime films'', or simply ''Italian crime films''. Influenced by both 1970s Gangster film#French gangster films, French crime films and gritty 1960s and 1970s American Crime thriller, cop films and vigilante films, poliziotteschi films were made amidst an atmosphere of socio-political turmoil in Italy known as Years of Lead (Italy), Years of Lead and increasing Italian crime rates. ''Brothers Till We Die'' ( it, La banda del gobbo) is a 1977 Italian poliziottesco-action film by Umberto Lenzi and fifth and final entry into the Tanzi/Moretto/Monnezza shared universe. Gianfranco Plenizio (10 January 1941 – 7 February 2017) was an Italian conductor, composer, pianist and essayist. Life and career Born in Sedegliano, Plenizio studied piano with Enrico De Angelis Valentini and conduction under Franco Ferrara. After his debut as a pianist, he focused on conducting; among others, he conducted the London Symphony Orchestra, the Santa Cecilia Orchestra, the Orquesta Nacional de España, the Orchestre de chambre de Genève and the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. Active as a film score composer, Plenizio collaborated with notable directors such as Federico Fellini, Billy Wilder, Mario Monicelli, Pietro Germi, Ermanno Olmi.
