The Institute for Language and Folklore ( sv, Institutet för språk och folkminnen, acronym Isof), is a Swedish government agency with the purpose of studying and collecting materials concerning dialects, folklore and onomastics. Franciska Clausen
Franciska Clausen (7 January 1899 – 5 March 1986) was a Danish painter who was involved in the abstract art movement of the early twentieth century. Clausen studied at the Die Grossherzogliche sächsische Hochschule für bildende Kunst in Weimar, Germany (1916–17), at the Women's Academy in Munich (1918–19), at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, in Copenhagen, Denmark (1920–21), and under Hans Hofmann at the Hofmann Schule Fur Moderne Kunst in Munich (1921–22). She subsequently sought out private lessons from László Moholy-Nagy, Berlin (Sept. – Dec. 1922), from Alexander Archipenko in Berlin in 1923, and under Fernand Léger in Paris (1924–25). She was inspired by László Moholy-Nagy's Constructionist collages. From 1924 to 1928 in Paris, a cubist style can be seen in her paintings with a base in Léger's 'machine style art'. Franciska Gaal (born Franciska Silberspitz, 1 February 1903 – 13 August 1972) was a Hungarian cabaret artist and film actress of Jewish heritage. Gaal starred in a popular series of European romantic comedies during the 1930s. After attracting interest in Hollywood she moved there and made three films. Early years Born in Budapest, Gaal was the last of the 13 children of a Jewish family. She studied at the Stage Academy in Budapest in 1919 and by 1920 appeared in theaters in that city. Early career Gaal debuted in film in (1919). She was groomed by Joe Pasternak as a singer to become a very popular stage and cabaret performer in Central Europe in the 1920s and 1930s. Franciska Sontag
Franziska Sontag (née Martloff or Markloff) (2 January 1787/89 – 10 April 1865) was a German operatic soprano and stage actress. Life Martloff was born in Heddernheim on 2 January 1787 or 1789. She was the daughter of an electoral official and was already on stage at the age of twelve. She received her first engagement at the Staatstheater Mainz and from there changed to the Theater Koblenz. Between 1812 and 1814 Martloff appeared at the Staatstheater Darmstadt and could be seen there together with August Wilhelm Iffland. In 1815 she went to the State Opera in Prague and stayed there until 1824. In time she replaced her colleague Sophie Schröder as the "first actress". From 1824 followed extensive guest tours to Vienna and Berlin. Martloff married her colleague, the actor Franz Sontag, and had two daughters with him, Henriette and Nina, both of whom later also went to the stage.
