Francisco Mosquera
Francisco Antonio Mosquera Valencia (born 1 April 1992) is a Colombian weightlifter, World Champion, three-time Pan American Champion and Pan American Games Champion competing in the 62 kg category until 2018 and 61 kg starting in 2018 after the International Weightlifting Federation reorganized the categories. Career Injury before Olympics In 2016 he tore his Patellar tendon in his left knee 10 days before the beginning of the 2016 Summer Olympics and was unable to compete. His recovery lasted 15 months and he was unable to compete until the 2017 Bolivarian Games, during which he competed in the 62 kg division winning a gold medal. World Championships Mosquera won a gold medal in the 62kg division at the 2017 World Weightlifting Championships in Anaheim, this makes him the second Colombian weightlifter to win a gold medal at the World Weightlifting Championships after Leydi Solís also at the 2017 World Weightlifting Championships. Olympic Weightlifting
Olympic weightlifting, or Olympic-style weightlifting (officially named Weightlifting), is a sport in which athletes compete in lifting a barbell loaded with weight plates from the ground to overhead, with each athlete trying to successfully lift the heaviest weights. Athletes compete in two specific ways of lifting the barbell overhead: these are the snatch and the clean and jerk. The ''snatch'' is a wide-grip lift, in which the weighted barbell is lifted overhead in one motion. The ''clean and jerk'' is a combination lift, in which the weight is first taken from the ground to the front of the shoulders (the clean), and then from the shoulders to overhead (the jerk). The clean and press, wherein a clean was followed by an overhead press, was formerly also a competition lift, but was discontinued due to difficulties in judging proper form. The men's 62 kg competition of the weightlifting events at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada, was held on July 11 at the Oshawa Sports Centre. Weightlifting At The 2015 Pan American Games
Weightlifting competitions at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto was held from July 11 to 15 at the General Motors Centre (Oshawa Sports Centre) in Oshawa. Due to naming rights the arena was as the latter for the duration of the games. A total of fifteen weightlifting events were held: eight for men and seven for women. Venue The competitions will take place at the General Motors Centre (Oshawa Sports Centre) located about in the city of Oshawa, about 60 kilometers from the athletes village. The arena will have a reduced capacity (from its normal of about 5,500) of about 3,000 people per session. The venue will also host boxing competitions later during the games.
