Francisco Javier Abadía y Aragorri (1770–1836) was a Spanish lieutenant general and, briefly, minister of war. Serranía De Ronda
The Serranía de Ronda is one of the nine comarcas in the western part of the province of Málaga, Andalusia, Spain. This comarca was established in 2003 by the Government of Andalusia. As is currently (as of 2009) the norm in Andalusia, it has no formal status. The 2007 Statute of Autonomy of Andalusia, unlike its 1981 predecessor, mentions comarcas in Article 97 of Title III, which defines the significance of comarcas and establishes a basis for formal recognition in future legislation, but no such legislation has yet been enacted. Geography It is an area of natural beauty and geographical diversity, popular with walkers, birdwatchers, climbers and potholers. It contains both the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park - reputedly one of the wettest regions in Spain - and the Sierra de las Nieves. Campo De Gibraltar
Campo de Gibraltar () is one of the six ''comarcas'' (county) in the province of Cádiz, Spain, in the southwestern part of the autonomous community of Andalusia, the southernmost part of mainland Europe. It comprises the municipalities of Algeciras, La Línea de la Concepción, San Roque, Los Barrios, Castellar de la Frontera, Jimena de la Frontera, San Martín del Tesorillo and Tarifa. This comarca was established in 2003 by the Government of Andalusia. Its name comes from the municipal territory of the town of Gibraltar, now a British Overseas Territory. Until 1704, the Campo de Gibraltar was simply the territory for the municipality of Gibraltar, about corresponding approximately to the current municipalities of Algeciras, San Roque, Los Barrios and La Línea de la Concepción. Tomás De Morla
Captain-General Tomás Bruno de Morla Pacheco (9 July 1747 – 6 December 1812) was a Spanish Army officer who served in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. Early life Tomás was born in Jerez de la Frontera in 1747. He was the son of Tomas de Morla and Maria Pacheco. He entered the Artillery Academy at Segovia in 1764, graduating the following year as a sub-lieutenant in that institution's first graduating class. Career In 1780, during the American Revolutionary War, as a lieutenant of artillery, Morla took part in the Great Siege of Gibraltar, where he was wounded. In 1792, during the French Revolutionary Wars he served in the Army of Rousillon as quartermaster general, serving later in various posts until in 1800 he was appointed governor of Cádiz and captain general of Andalusia. Francisco Javier Venegas de Saavedra y Ramínez de Arenzana, 1st Marquess of Reunión and New Spain, KOC (1754 in Zafra, Badajoz, Spain – 1838 in Zafra, Spain) was a Spanish general in the Spanish War of Independence and later viceroy of New Spain from September 14, 1810, to March 4, 1813, during the first phase of the Mexican War of Independence. Army career Venegas began studies for a literary career, but gave them up to serve in the military. He rose in rank to lieutenant colonel, taking part in the fighting against the French Republic. He had retired from service at the time of the Napoleonic invasion of Spain, but returned then to active duty. He took part in the Battle of Bailén, and was named commander of a division in Andalucía. His services in the war with the French were valuable, and he demonstrated his intelligence, energy and courage.
