Frank Jenkins (footballer)
Frank William Thomas "Scranno" Jenkins (11 August 191823 May 1987) was an Australian rules footballer who played with South Fremantle in the West Australian National Football League (WANFL). He is a member of the Fremantle Team of Legends. Jenkins played 150 games for South Fremantle, mostly at centre half back but also at centre half-forward and the centre, and had his career interrupted by the Second World War. He played his best football before the war, winning the Sandover Medal in his debut season of 1937 with a record high 34 votes, which remained a record for 44 years until Stephen Michael polled 37 votes in 1981. He came close to winning back to back Sandover Medals when he finished runner up to Haydn Bunton in 1938 and also won three consecutive best and fairest awards for South Fremantle between 1937 and 1939. Frank Jenkins (1888–1945) was an American banjo and fiddle player. He was born in 1888 in Dobson, North Carolina. Jenkins earned his living working on farms and in sawmills. Jenkins was known for his skill as a 3-finger style banjo player, but he was also an accomplished fiddle player, winning prizes at many fiddle contests A fiddle is a bowed string musical instrument, most often a violin. Frank Maurice Stinson Jenkins (July 6, 1859 – December 5, 1930) was an early amateur ice hockey player. He was a founder, and the first captain of the Ottawa Hockey Club (Ottawa HC) of 1883. He was also the founder in 1894 of Ottawa's first full-size orchestra, the Ottawa Amateur Orchestral Society. Family Born in Kingston, Ontario, Jenkins moved to Ottawa as a boy and resided in Ottawa ever since. He was a son of Charles W. Jenkins and Carolyn Counter Jenkins. He was the grandson of Kingston mayor John Counter. In 1892, Frank married Annie Lampman, a concert pianist and sister of Archibald Lampman. Frank and Anne had one son, Frank T. and three daughters, Dorothy, Ruth and Marjorie. Their daughter Dorothy Jenkins McCurry was a noted vocal soloist and teacher in Ottawa. Frank Graham Jenkins (24 February 1923 – 22 October 2011) was Dean of Monmouth from 1976 to 1990.
