Francis Andrews
Francis Andrews (1718 – 18 June 1774) was an Irish politician. Andrews was born in Derry and educated at Trinity College Dublin."Alumni Dublinenses : a register of the students, graduates, professors and provosts of Trinity College in the University of Dublin (1593–1860 George Dames Burtchaell/Thomas Ulick Sadleir p13: Dublin, Alex Thom and Co, 1935 and became a Fellow in 1740. In 1758 he was appointed Provost of Trinity College Dublin, and in 1759 was elected to the Irish House of Commons for Midleton. From 1761 until his death he sat for the City of Londonderry. He was appointed to the Irish Privy Council on 6 April 1761. The Irish ( ga, Muintir na hÉireann or ''Na hÉireannaigh'') are an ethnic group and nation native to the island of Ireland, who share a common history and culture. There have been humans in Ireland for about 33,000 years, and it has been continually inhabited for more than 10,000 years (see Prehistoric Ireland). Richard Baldwin (provost)
Richard Baldwin D.D. (c. 1672 – 30 September 1758) was an Anglo-Irish academic who was Provost of Trinity College Dublin. Early life The details of Baldwin's early life are not certain. The enrolment book of Trinity College records that Baldwin was born in c.1668 in Athy, County Kildare, the son of Richard Baldwin, a gentleman. Another theory is that Baldwin was born in Lancashire, England, to a poor family before fleeing to Ireland and being taken into the care of Robert Huntington. It is known that Baldwin attended Kilkenny College where he was a contemporary of Jonathan Swift, alongside whom he would later study at Trinity College. Career In 1686, Baldwin obtained a scholarship to Trinity and he graduated with a B.A. in 1689. That same year, the college was occupied by Jacobites during the Williamite War in Ireland and Baldwin, a staunch Whig, fled to England.
