Frances Emily White (8 June 1832 – 29 December 1903) was an American anatomist and physiologist. White was born in Andover, New Hampshire, and educated at the Woman's Medical College of Pennsylvania. She went on to become a demonstrator in Anatomy and Instructor in Physiology from 1872 to 1876. White was then a Professor of Physiology from 1876 until her death in 1903. Frances White (born Frances Mae Caples; January 1, 1896 – February 24, 1969) was an American singer and actress on Broadway, on the vaudeville stage, and in silent film. She popularized the spelling song "M-I-S-S-I-S-S-I-P-P-I". She played "Fanny Warden" in '' The New Adventures of J. Rufus Wallingford'' (1915), a series of silent short comedies. She was also in the cast of the eugenics film ''The Black Stork'' (1917). Early life Frances Caples was the daughter of Edward T. Caples and Caroline Leibfried Caples. Her grandfather was a wealthy Texas banker. She may have been from Texas, San Francisco, Los Angeles, or Seattle (sources vary on this point). Mari Kimura
(; born 1962) is a Japanese violinist and composer best known for her use of subharmonics, which, achieved through special bowing techniques, allow pitches below the instrument's normal range. She is credited with "introducing" the use of violin subharmonics, which allow a violinist to play a full octave below the low G on the violin without adjusting the tuning of the instrument. She studied violin with Joseph Fuchs, Roman Totenberg, Toshiya Eto, and Armand Weisbord. She also studied composition with Mario Davidovsky at Columbia University, and computer music at Stanford University. Kimura holds a doctorate in performance from The Juilliard School. Since September 1998, she has been teaching a graduate class in Interactive Computer Music Performance at The Juilliard School. Frances Whyte is a former Scottish international lawn and indoor bowler. Bowls career Whyte won a gold medal in the fours at the 1985 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Melbourne.
