Frances Stewart, Duchess Of Lennox
Frances Stewart (née Howard), Duchess of Lennox and Richmond, Countess of Hertford (27 July 1578 – 8 October 1639)Strong (1998), pp. 61–62 was the daughter of a younger son of the Duke of Norfolk. An orphan of small fortune, she rose to be the only duchess at the court of James I of England. She married the son of a London alderman who died in 1599, leaving her a wealthy widow at a young age. She became, for 20 years, the third wife of the ageing Edward Seymour, 1st Earl of Hertford, nephew of Jane Seymour, third queen consort of Henry VIII. Within months of Edward's death she married a cousin of James I, Ludovic Stewart, 2nd Duke of Lennox and 1st Duke of Richmond. Frances Seymour, Duchess of Somerset (''née'' Devereux; 30 September 1599 – 24 April 1674) was an English noblewoman who lived during the reigns of Elizabeth I, James I, Charles I and Charles II. Her father was Robert Devereux, 2nd Earl of Essex, Elizabeth I's favourite who was executed for treason in 1601. She was the second wife of William Seymour, 2nd Duke of Somerset, and the mother of his seven children. Early life Lady Frances Devereux was born on 30 September 1599 at Walsingham House, Seething Lane, London. She was the youngest child of Robert Devereux, 2nd Earl of Essex and his wife, Frances Walsingham. Frances Darcy, Countess Of Holderness
Frances Darcy, Countess of Southampton (1618 – January 1681), formerly Lady Frances Seymour, was an English noblewoman of royal descent, who was married three times to titled men. She was the daughter of William Seymour, 2nd Duke of Somerset, by his second marriage to Lady Frances Devereux; the duke was directly descended from King Henry VII of England. Frances married Richard Molyneux, 2nd Viscount Molyneux, who, like her father, was a Royalist commander in the English Civil War. They had no children, and Molyneux died in about 1654. As her second husband, she married (as his third wife) Thomas Wriothesley, 4th Earl of Southampton, on 7 May 1659. They had no children, and Wriothesley died in 1667, leaving Frances the contents of Southampton House in Holborn, their London home. Frances Seymour, Lady Hungerford
Charles Seymour, 2nd Baron Seymour of Trowbridge (c. 1621 – 25 August 1665) was the son of Francis Seymour, 1st Baron Seymour of Trowbridge, whom he succeeded in the barony in 1664. Francis had been a younger brother of William Seymour, 2nd Duke of Somerset. Prior to his ennoblement, he represented Great Bedwyn in the Short Parliament of 1640 and Wiltshire in the Cavalier Parliament from 1661 to 1664. He married firstly, on 4 April 1632, Mary, daughter of Thomas Smith of Soley in Chilton Foliat, a village northwest of Hungerford. The couple had one son and two daughters; one of their daughters, Frances (bef. 1654–1716), would marry Sir George Hungerford. The Hungerfords had at least six children together. Frances Seymour, Countess of Hertford (''née'' Thynne; 10 May 1699 – 7 July 1754), later the Duchess of Somerset, was a British courtier and the wife of Algernon Seymour, Earl of Hertford, who became the 7th Duke of Somerset in 1748. She was also known as a poet, literary patron and woman of letters. Her great-aunt by marriage, Anne Finch, Countess of Winchilsea, influenced her literary development. She was also influenced by the poet Elizabeth Singer (later Rowe), with whom she became acquainted in her youth at Longleat, where she grew up. Frances Ford Seymour Fonda (4 April 1908 – 14 April 1950) was a Canadian-American socialite. She was the second wife of actor Henry Fonda, and the mother of actors Jane Fonda and Peter Fonda.
