Frances Jennings Casement
Frances Jennings Casement (1840–1928) was an American suffragette and voting advocate from Painesville, Ohio. Her father Charles C. Jennings was a politician active in the abolition movement in the 1830s. Frances married General John S. Casement in 1857.Timeline: a publication of the Ohio Historical Society, vol. 18, 2001, p. 12 He was elected as representative to congress and lobbied for voting rights for women. Frances and her husband moved to Wyoming where she became friends with suffragettes Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton. In 1870 they returned to Painesville, where Frances continued her campaign for women's rights. In 1883, she organized the Equal Rights Association in Painesville and in 1885 helped found Ohio Women's Suffrage Association, serving as president from 1885 to 1889. Lake Erie College
Lake Erie College is a Private university, private liberal arts college in Painesville, Ohio. Founded in 1856 as a female seminary, the college converted to a coeducational institution in 1985. As of the 2016–2017 Academic term, academic year, the total enrollment was 1,177 students. In addition to 63 programs of study for undergraduate students, Lake Erie offers master's programs in education and physician assistant studies, as well as the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education, IACBE-accredited Parker Master of Business Administration program, first founded in 1981. Painesville Township is one of the five townships of Lake County, Ohio, United States. The population was 20,399 at the 2010 census. It is part of Greater Cleveland in the Northeast Ohio Region, the 15th largest combined statistical area in the United States. Name and history Long occupied by various indigenous peoples, the area was not settled by European Americans in any number until after the Revolutionary War. Early on, this land was considered part of the Connecticut Western Reserve. General Edward Paine (1746–1841), who had served as a captain in the Connecticut militia during the war, arrived in 1800 with a party of 66 settlers. General Paine later represented the region in the territorial legislature of the Northwest Territory. Lake County was established on March 6, 1840, from land given by Cuyahoga and Geauga counties, and derived its name from its location on the southern shore of Lake Erie.
