Pietro Francavilla
Pierre Franqueville, generally called Pietro Francavilla (1548 — 25 August 1615), was a Franco-Flemish sculptor trained in Florence, who provided sculpture for Italian and French patrons in the elegant Late Mannerist tradition established by Giambologna. Biography Born at Cambrai, he received his early training as a draftsman in Paris. In 1565 he is recorded at Innsbruck, where Alexander Colin was working on the elaborate monument in the Hofkirche for the funerary monument to Emperor Maximilian I. In this project Franqueville learned enough of the practice of sculpture to enter the large Florentine atelier of his fellow countryman, Giambologna. Francavilla became his master's main assistant in the carving of marble, including the masterpiece of the ''Rape of the Sabines'' displayed in the Loggia dei Lanzi, Florence. Francesco Francavilla
Francesco Francavilla is an Italian comic book artist known for his creator-owned series '' The Black Beetle'' and pulp-inspired comic covers. Other notable works include ''The Black Coat'' (which he co-created), Dynamite's ''Zorro'' series, and his recent run on ''Detective Comics'' with Scott Snyder and Jock. Career Francesco Francavilla made his professional comics debut in the Italian comics anthology ''Amazing Comics''. Within the industry he has become known for his pulp and retro-inspired style. He runs a blog, ''Pulp Sunday'', dedicated to this kind of work. His cover work is particularly noteworthy, he won an Eisner for it in 2012. Costanza D'Avalos, Duchess Of Francavilla
Costanza d'Avalos (1460–1541), Duchess of Francavilla, was an Italian ruler. She was the ruler of the Duchy of Francavilla between 1501 and 1541. Life She was the daughter of Innico I d'Avalos of the Spanish d'Avalos family, count of Monteodorisio, and Antonella d'Aquino, heiress to the marquisate of Pescara. Her father had come to Italy with Alfonso V of Aragon in 1442. She was given in marriage to Federico del Balzo, Prince of Altamura and Duke of Venosa, son of Pietro del Balzo and brother of the Queen of Naples, Isabella. Duchess of Francavilla After she was widowed without children, in 1483, King Frederick of Naples granted her the Duchy of Francavilla in 1501. Francavilla Al Mare
Francavilla al Mare () is a ''comune'' and town in the province of Chieti, in the Abruzzo region of Italy. The municipality, included in the urban area of Pescara, borders with Chieti, Miglianico, Ortona, Pescara, Ripa Teatina, San Giovanni Teatino and Torrevecchia Teatina. History The area was inhabited since prehistory, and early remains have been found at St. Cecilia.
