Fran Hitchcock
Fran Hitchcock (born 2 December 1960 in Dublin) is an Irish former footballer who played as a forward during the 1980s and 1990s. Hitchcock made his League of Ireland debut for Shelbourne F.C. on 7 September 1980. He can count Home Farm F.C. (4 spells), Shamrock Rovers, Sligo Rovers, Dundalk and Bohemian F.C. amongst his many clubs during a long career in the League of Ireland. Hitchcock scored for Athlone Town A.F.C. in the 1983–84 European Cup. While at Home Farm F.C. his form helped him earn a Player of the Month award in December 1984. He played twice in the European Cup for Rovers in 1985 making a total of eight appearances whilst at Glenmalure Park. Hitchcock bought out his contract at Rovers in January 1986 to move back to Home Farm. He also played in goal for St Pats reserves. He signed for Bohemians in October 1991. The Leinster Senior Cup is an association football cup competition organized by the Leinster Football Association. It is currently contested by LFA affiliated League of Ireland clubs, Leinster Senior League Senior Division clubs and invited teams from the various LFA affiliated junior leagues. The Football Association of Ireland Senior Challenge Cup (FAI Cup), known as the Extra.ie FAI Cup for sponsorship reasons, is a knock-out association football competition contested annually by teams from the Republic of Ireland (as well as Derry City from Northern Ireland). Glenmalure Park
Glenmalure Park, often simply known as Milltown, was a football stadium on the Southside of Dublin city in Ireland. Located in the suburb of Milltown, it was home to Shamrock Rovers from 1926 to 1987, when it was sold to property developers by the club's directors. It is now a housing estate called Glenmalure Square. Ringsend to Milltown Shamrock Rovers moved from the inner city area of Ringsend in the early 20th century to the then semi-rural suburb of Milltown. In Milltown, Rovers secured a long-term lease of land from the Jesuit Order, who were based in the area. The club's ground there was largely built by their supporters, who constructed the main stand and banked the areas on the other three sides.
