Framed (1975 Film)
''Framed'' is a 1975 American crime film directed by Phil Karlson and starring Joe Don Baker and Conny Van Dyke. It was the final film of Karlson's Hollywood career. Plot Returning home to Tennessee from a trip to Texas, nightclub owner and gambler Ron Lewis happens across a shooting and is nearly shot himself. A deputy confronts Lewis as he arrives at his home. He accuses Lewis of being involved in the shooting and roughs him up, resulting in a fight that ends up in the deputy being killed and Lewis being badly beaten. Lewis is placed under arrest for the death of the deputy. Corrupt cops, including a thieving sheriff, and lawyers (including his own) ignore Lewis' claim of self-defense and railroad him into a prison sentence of up to 10 years. His girlfriend Susan is sexually assaulted and warned not to aid Lewis' defense in any way. Behind bars, Lewis is befriended by mob boss Sal Viccarone and hit man Vince Greeson. Phil Karlson
Phil Karlson (born Philip N. Karlstein; July 2, 1908 – December 12, 1982) was an American film director. Karlson directed '' 99 River Street'', ''Kansas City Confidential'' and ''Hell's Island'', all with actor John Payne, in the early 1950s. Other films include '' The Texas Rangers'' (1951), ''The Phenix City Story'' (1955), '' 5 Against the House'' (1955), ''Gunman's Walk'' (1958), ''The Young Doctors'' (1961) and '' Walking Tall'' (1973). Biography Early life Karlson was the son of Irish actress Lillian O'Brien. His father was Jewish. He attended Marshall High School and studied painting at Chicago's Art Institute. He tried to make a living as a song and dance man but was unsuccessful. Then he studied law, at his father's request, at Loyola Marymount University in California. Les Lannom (born November 4, 1946) is an American actor and musician. Born in Johnston City, Illinois. He is perhaps best known for playing Lester Hodges in the American private detective television series ''Harry O'' from 1974 to 1976, and his role as Sergeant Casper in ''Southern Comfort''.
