National Pipe Thread
American National Standard Pipe Thread standards, often called national pipe thread standards for short, are United States national technical standards for screw threads used on threaded pipes and pipe fittings. They include both tapered and straight thread series for various purposes, including rigidity, pressure-tight sealing, or both. The types are named with a full name and an abbreviation, such as NPT, NPS, NPTF, or NPSC. MIP is an abbreviation for male iron pipe, and FIP is an abbreviation for female iron pipe. Outside North America, some US pipe thread sizes are widely used, as well as many British Standard Pipe threads and ISO 7-1, 7-2, 228-1, and 228-2 threads. Types The various types are each named with a abbreviation and a full name, as follows: Uses Threaded pipes can provide an effective seal for pipes transporting liquids, gases, steam, and hydraulic fluid. These threads are now used in materials other than steel and brass, including PTFE, PVC, nylon, bronze ... Special Advisory Committee
Various Special Advisory Committees (SAC) are formed (and disbanded) on an ad-hoc basis in Canadian government circles, especially public health as governed by the Public Health Agency of Canada. History The SACs invariably have the acronym FPT or F/P/T attached to them; the acronym stands for Federal/Provincial/Territorial. The committees join civil servants in various ministries at all FPT levels of government. The FPT structure was hatched in April 2004 by Anne McLellan, who then occupied the role of Deputy Prime Minister. Her '' Securing an Open Society: Canada's National Security Policy'' document was released to public view in Parliament; and the FPT acronym was birthed. The system of national security was bestowed on that day: "a permanent, high-level federal-provincial-territorial forum on emergencies, which will allow for regular strategic discussion of emergency management issues among key national players." Examples of such SACs are the: * SAC on COVID-19 * SAC on the Ep ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Fixed-parameter Tractability
In computer science, parameterized complexity is a branch of computational complexity theory that focuses on classifying computational problems according to their inherent difficulty with respect to ''multiple'' parameters of the input or output. The complexity of a problem is then measured as a function of those parameters. This allows the classification of NP-hard problems on a finer scale than in the classical setting, where the complexity of a problem is only measured as a function of the number of bits in the input. The first systematic work on parameterized complexity was done by . Under the assumption that P ≠ NP, there exist many natural problems that require superpolynomial running time when complexity is measured in terms of the input size only, but that are computable in a time that is polynomial in the input size and exponential or worse in a parameter . Hence, if is fixed at a small value and the growth of the function over is relatively small then such p ... Florida Playwrights' Theatre
Florida Playwrights' Theatre or FPT was a 54-seat black box theatre in Hollywood, Florida that was in operation from 1993 to 1999. It was begun by Paul and Angela Thomas, whose goal was to create a small repertory company that would produce new plays and little-known plays, as well as the classics, including their annual Shakespeare festivals. New plays premiered * "Apathy-The Gen X Musical" by Mickey Zetts (Both as a late-night 1995 and a mainstage 1997) * "Love is a Masochist" by Mickey Zetts (shown with "The Piano that Jack Filled", adapted by Duncan Pflaster from the song-cycle by Adam Rabin) 1996. * "Wilder and Wilder by Duncan Pflaster (Both as a late-night and a mainstage - 1995) * "Amazing Dædalus" by Duncan Pflaster (Late-night 1997) * "Audition Pieces" by Kim Mowrey * "The Jessie Donovan Show" by Roberta Morgan (critic), Roberta Morgan Other plays produced 1993 * ''Dancin' to Calliope'' by Jack Gilhooley * ''Eli: A Mystery Play of the Sufferings of Israel'' by Nelly Sach ... Forced Perfect Termination
In electronics, electrical termination is the practice of ending a transmission line with a device that matches the characteristic impedance of the line. Termination prevents signals from reflecting off the end of the transmission line. Reflections at the ends of unterminated transmission lines cause distortion which can produce ambiguous digital signal levels and mis-operation of digital systems. Reflections in analog signal systems cause such effects as video ghosting, or power loss in radio transmitter transmission lines. Transmission lines Signal termination often requires the installation of a terminator at the beginning and end of a wire or cable to prevent an RF signal from being reflected back from each end, causing interference, or power loss. The terminator is usually placed at the end of a transmission line or daisy chain bus (such as in SCSI), and is designed to match the AC impedance of the cable and hence minimize signal reflections, and power losses. FPT Industries
FPT Industries was formed in July 1939 as Fireproof Tanks Ltd (commonly known as FPT) as a subsidiary of Airspeed Ltd at Portsmouth Airport in response to an Air Ministry requirement for the development and manufacture of self-sealing fuel tanks for the impending war with Germany. The intention of the board of directors was to commence work on the manufacture of self-sealing fuel tanks for aircraft entering service with the Royal Air Force, the highest priority being the Fairey Battle single engined bomber which, although obsolete, was regarded as a front line bomber by the Royal Air Force. The early tanks were of welded aluminium structure with the sealing material applied as a composite layer on the outside. A major problem with welded aluminium tanks is weld decay and metal fatigue in the seams due to vibration in service. In response to this, the company started to develop flexible fuel bladders in the early 1940s. One of the earliest examples of this was a composite flexibl ... Full Pressure Turbo
Automatic Performance Control (APC) was the first engine knock and boost control system. The APC was invented by Per Gillbrand at the Swedish car maker SAAB. SAAB introduced it on the turbo charged Saab H engines in 1982, and the APC was fitted to all subsequent 900 Turbos through 1993 (and 1994 convertibles), as well as 9000 Turbos through 1989. The APC was sold to Maserati to equip the carbureted Maserati Biturbo, with different settings for the Biturbo, and was known as the Maserati Automatic Boost Controller (MABC). The APC allowed a higher compression ratio (initially, 8.5:1 as opposed to 7.2:1, and, on 16-valve variants introduced in 1985, 9.0:1). This improved fuel economy and allowed the use of low-octane petrol without causing engine damage caused by knock. The APC controls boost pressure and the overall performance, specifically the rate of rise and maximum boost level - and it detects and manages harmful knock events. To control the turbocharger, the APC monito ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |
