Wanborough, Wiltshire
Wanborough is a large village and civil parish in the borough of Swindon, Wiltshire, England. The village is about southeast of Swindon town centre. The settlement along the High Street is Lower Wanborough, while Upper Wanborough is on higher ground to the southwest. The parish includes the hamlets of Horpit (a short distance north of Wanborough) and Foxhill, to the southeast. History There was a Roman settlement, Durocornovium, slightly northwest of the current village, at a road junction mentioned in the Antonine Itinerary. Being the last ''vicus'' on Ermin Way or Ermin Street before the scarp slope of the Marlborough Downs, Durocornovium was a site where horses were watered before the steep climb off the Oxfordshire plain. Foxhill Motocross Circuit
Foxhill motocross circuit is a well-known motocross circuit situated near to the small village of Foxhill, around six miles south east of Swindon, Wiltshire, England. Established in the late 1980s, the circuit is highly regarded by motocross enthusiasts in the UK. Set in a valley, much of the circuit winds up and down the steep banks of the valley, with a number of large man-made jumps. The circuit is predominantly hard, chalky soil. Foxhill House
Foxhill House is a Gothic revival style building on what is now the Whiteknights campus of the University of Reading at Earley, adjoining the English town of Reading. It currently houses the University's School of Law. Foxhill House is a grade II* listed building. The former stables and coach house immediately to the north east, which are now physically connected to Foxhill House, and also form part of the School of Law, are separately listed as Grade II. History The house was originally built in 1868 by the architect Alfred Waterhouse and used as his own residence until, in the early 1870s, he moved into an even grander property, Yattendon Court, which he had built in 1867. Foxhill Park is a 45-acre park in Bowie, Maryland, operated by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission. It is adjacent to the Belair Mansion. Woodward Pond The park includes Woodward Pond, a man-made pond, also referred to as Foxhill Lake. It is formed by the damming of an east–west flowing tributary of Collington Branch. Foxhill Park Bridge Foxhill Park Bridge is an historic bridge over Woodward Pond and is eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places under Criterion C.
