Fox Valley Ice Arena
Fox Valley Ice Arena is a public skating facility offering basic to advanced skating lessons for both figure skating and hockey. In addition, it is home to the Chicago Steel of the United States Hockey League. It contains two rinks: one measures 200' x 85' (the size of a National Hockey League rink) and the other 200' x 100' (an international-size rink). The arena is also an official rink partner of the Chicago Blackhawks. Fox Valley Ice Arena has a full service fitness facility on the premise, and a restaurant, Chelios Pub and Grill. Hockey tenants The Chicago Steel moved to the Fox Valley Ice Arena in 2015, having previously played at the Edge Ice Arena in Bensenville, Illinois since their inception in 2000. Chicago Hitmen
The Chicago Hitmen were a Junior A Tier II ice hockey team based out of the Chicago region. NAHL team history The Chicago Hitmen played in the North American Hockey League from 2010 to 2012. The team first played in the 1,000-seat West Meadows Ice Arena in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. On June 4, 2010, the team announced that Steve Pronger was signed as head coach, coming to the Hitmen after serving as the head coach of the Chicago Blaze of the AAHL. Pronger was replaced prior to the 2011–12 season by Brent Agrusa. The team also relocated to the Fox Valley Ice Arena in Geneva, Illinois on a five-year lease. During the 2011–12 season, the Hitmen were reportedly locked out of the Fox Valley Ice Arena due to unpaid bills. The North American Hockey League (NAHL) is one of the top junior hockey leagues in the United States and is in its 48th season of operation in 2022–23. It is the only Tier II junior league sanctioned by USA Hockey, and acts as an alternative to the Tier I United States Hockey League (USHL). The NAHL is one of the oldest junior hockey leagues in the United States and is headquartered in Addison, Texas. The teams span the United States from Maine in the East to Alaska in the Northwest and to Texas in the South. The Chicago Steel are members of the United States Hockey League, joining the league in 2000. The Steel have played their home games at Fox Valley Ice Arena in Geneva, Illinois, since 2015; previously, the team played at Edge Ice Arena in Bensenville, Illinois, from 2000 to 2015. History The Fargo-Moorhead Ice Sharks, founded in 1996, moved to Bensenville, Illinois, and became the Chicago Steel in 2000. The United States Hockey League (USHL) is the top junior ice hockey league sanctioned by USA Hockey. The league consists of 16 active teams located in the midwestern United States, for players between the ages of 16 and 21. Edge Ice Arena
The Edge Ice Arena includes ''The Edge on John Street'', ''The Water's Edge Aquatic Center'', and The ''Edge II Ice Arena'' a 3,000-seat multi-purpose arena located in Bensenville, Illinois. It had been used as the official training facility and practice arena for the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League before the team built a new downtown Chicago training facility.
