Fox Hills is a neighborhood of Culver City, California. It is roughly triangular in shape, bounded by West Slauson Avenue to the north, Centinela Avenue on the south, the Interstate 405 (California), San Diego Freeway to the southwest, and Canterbury Drive to the southeast. Fox Hills was annexed to Culver City in 1964, at which time it consisted of undeveloped land, riding stables, and golf courses. In the 1970s, the neighborhood was developed with apartments, condominiums, and the Westfield Fox Hills, Fox Hills Mall, an indoor shopping center that opened in 1975. The Fox Hills neighborhood is home to Fox Hills Park, which is located at the intersection of Green Valley Circle and Buckingham Parkway. Clifton is a neighborhood on the North Shore of Staten Island in New York City, United States. It is an older waterfront neighborhood, facing Upper New York Bay on the east. It is bordered on the north by Stapleton, on the south by Rosebank, on the southwest by Concord, and on the west by Van Duzer Street. History The name "Clifton" for the area dates to 1817, when a town by the name, larger in area than the present neighborhood, was laid out along the waterfront. In its early history, much of the surrounding land was owned by the Vanderbilt family. As a young man, Cornelius Vanderbilt established ferry service from the waterfront to Manhattan at the foot of present Vanderbilt Avenue. The Fox Hills Formation is a Cretaceous geologic Formation (geology), formation in the northwestern Great Plains of North America. It is present from Alberta on the north to Colorado in the south. Fossil remains of dinosaurs, including tyrannosaurs, as well as large marine reptiles, such as mosasaurs, have been recovered from the formation. Lithology The Fox Hills Formation consists of marginal marine yellow to grey sandstone with shale interbeds. It was deposited as a regressive sequence of barrier islands during the retreat of the Western Interior Seaway in Late Cretaceous time. In its eastern extents, the formation is underlain by the marine Pierre Shale in the United States and by the equivalent Bearpaw Formation in Canada, while in western ranges in Montana and Wyoming it overlies the Lewis Shale. Jabal Thuaileb ( ar, جبل ثعيلب, Jabal Thu‘aylib, Fox Hills) is a district in Qatar, located in the municipality of Al Daayen. It is also a census-designated district of Ad-Dawhah. It is closely situated to Lusail. After a cabinet resolution was passed in 2002, Jabal Thuaileb became the one of three districts in Qatar where foreigners could own real estate. Etymology The "jabal" portion of the district's name means "hill" or "mountain" or in Arabic. "Thuaileb" is derived from the Arabic word "thaalab", which translates to "fox" in English. Outwood Academy Foxhills is a mixed secondary school located in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, England. History Secondary modern school The school opened as Foxhills Secondary School in January 1951, with room for 400 children, with nine classrooms, two housecraft or domestic science, one craft, one woodwork or metalwork, and science laboratory. It was built with Tudor sand-faced bricks from the Isle of Axholme. The school was officially opened Saturday 19 May 1951 by the Labour minister of education George Tomlinson, and his wife, with the Mayor of Scunthorpe, Fred Gough. The school cost around £110,000.
