Fourth Monkey Actor Training Company (formerly named Fourth Monkey Theatre Company) is both a repertory theatre company, and an actor training provider and drama school for young actors. Based in North London, United Kingdom, Fourth Monkey provides an alternative to traditional conservatoire training or drama school. In addition to receiving training in London, Fourth Monkey's actors travel and perform throughout the UK and overseas in a repertory style. Alongside Fourth Monkey's approach to training, the company is noted for their theatre productions. Repertory Theatre
A repertory theatre is a theatre in which a resident company presents works from a specified repertoire, usually in alternation or rotation. United Kingdom Annie Horniman founded the first modern repertory theatre in Manchester after withdrawing her support from the Abbey Theatre in Dublin. Horniman's Gaiety Theatre, Manchester, Gaiety Theatre opened its first season in September of 1908. The opening of the Gaiety was followed by the Citizens' Theatre in Glasgow and the Liverpool Repertory Theatre. Previously, regional theatre relied on mostly London touring ensembles. Simon Stone
Simon Stone (born 19 August 1984) is an Australian film and theatre director, writer and actor. Early life Stone is Australian, but was born in Basel and grew up in Cambridge and Melbourne. His father, Stuart Stone, was a biochemist and his mother, Eleanor Mackie, a veterinary scientist. Stuart Stone died of a heart attack aged 45; Stone, aged 12, witnessed it, and has spoken about the ways in which that trauma has influenced his work. Shunt is a London-based performance collective, founded in 1998. Most of the co-founders of Shunt met at Central School of Speech and Drama in London on the Advanced Theatre Practice MA in 1997/1998, which specializes in collaborative practice. In summer 1998 Shunt's final term show 'Twist' was taken to Hill Street Theatre for the Edinburgh Festival under the company name Stephanie's Fridge.
