Wan-chun's Three Loves
''Wan-chun's Three Loves'' (追尋; "Seek") is a 1964 Taiwanese novelette by Chiung Yao. It was translated to English in 1965 by Tommy Lee. English translation * Plot The story is set in Beiping (modern Beijing), Republican era China. The protagonist Wan-chun is a tongyangxi (child bride) who was married into the Chou family when she was 8. Her husband was supposed to be Chou Po-chien, 10 years her senior, but before she reached the age to consummate their marriage the brothers Chou Po-chien, Chou Chung-kang, and Chou Shu-hao all fell in love with her. Unable to choose, Wan-chun attempted suicide, and eventually all three brothers left home for good one by one just as wars and revolutions swept across China. Chiung Yao
Chiung Yao or Qiong Yao (; born 20 April 1938) is the pen name of Chen Che, a Taiwanese writer and producer who is often regarded as the most popular romance novelist in the Chinese-speaking world. Her novels have been adapted into more than 100 films and TV dramas. Early life Chen Che and her twin brother were born in 1938 during the Second Sino-Japanese War in Chengdu, Sichuan, to parents who had fled Beijing which had fallen to Japanese troops in 1937. Both her father Chen Zhiping () and mother Yuan Xingshu () were highly educated (Yuan's cousins include Yuan Xiaoyuan, Yuan Jing and Yuan Xingpei). Lee Hsing, or Li Hsing (; born ; 20 May 1930 – 19 August 2021) was a Taiwanese film director. He directed more than 30 films between 1959 and 1986. Li Zida was born in Shanghai in 1930, and settled in Taiwan in 1948, studying at National Taiwan Normal University. Li taught for one year, then became a reporter for the ''Independence Evening Post'', a newspaper published by his father , in 1954. Lai Cheng-ying (; born 29 August 1931) born is a Taiwanese cinematographer and film director. Lai began working for Agriculture Education Motion Pictures. Tang Pao-yun
Tang Pao-yun (; 1944 – 14 May 1999) was a Taiwanese actress. She was born in 1944, and attended an acting school run by the Central Motion Picture Corporation. After ending her studies in 1961, she appeared in her first films the next year. Tang was named best supporting actress at the 1962 Asian Film Festival, and won the same award at the first Golden Horse Film Festival. Tang's role in ''Beautiful Duckling'' (1965) was considered a breakout performance. She would later co-star in other films alongside Ou Wei, namely ''Love is an Elusive Wind'' (1972).
