Foundation Of Women's Rights Promotion And Development
Foundation of Women's Rights Promotion and Development (FWRPD; ), a center of information and resource for all women in Taiwan, "dedicated to the enhancement and development of women's rights", is funded and established by Taiwanese government. FWRPD is the most important non-profit organization promoting gender mainstreaming in Taiwan. FWRPD has conducted research on gender mainstreaming and gender equality development, produced gender resources kits for training and education, networked women groups and entrepreneurs, participated in international exchange in UN, APEC gender related meetings. Gender impact assessment FWRPD has contributed to the development and execution of Gender Impact Assessment (GIA) in Taiwan. Gender Mainstreaming
Gender mainstreaming is the public policy concept of assessing the implications for people of different genders of a planned policy action, including legislation and programmes. Mainstreaming offers a pluralistic approach that values the diversity among people of different genders. The concept of gender mainstreaming was first proposed at the 1985 Third World Conference on Women and has subsequently been pushed in the United Nations development community. The idea was formally featured in 1995 at the Fourth World Conference on Women, and was cited in the document that resulted from the conference, the Beijing Platform for Action.
