Found Sound Nation
Found Sound Nation is a New York-based music and education nonprofit organization. It is made up of musicians and artists who use collaborative sound-making as a tool to help enhance communities and build bonds both locally and internationally. FSN was founded in 2007 by Chris Marianetti and Jeremy Thal. As a project of Bang on a Can, Found Sound Nation has organized numerous domestic and international workshops and performances. Bang On A Can
Bang on a Can is a multi-faceted contemporary classical music organization based in New York City. It was founded in 1987 by three American composers who remain its artistic directors: Julia Wolfe, David Lang, and Michael Gordon. Called "the country's most important vehicle for contemporary music" by the ''San Francisco Chronicle'', the organization focuses on the presentation of new concert music, and has presented hundreds of musical events worldwide. Notable performances Bang on a Can is perhaps best known for its Marathon Concerts, during which an eclectic mix of pieces are performed in succession over the course of many hours while audience members, who are encouraged to maintain a "jeans-and-tee-shirt informality," are welcome to come and go as they please. OneBeat (music Program)
OneBeat is an annual music exchange program that brings together musicians from around the world to share and collaborate on musical ideas and projects. OneBeat is the result of a partnership between Found Sound Nation, Bang on a Can and the US Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The first program was held in 2012 and as a release states: The program selects around 25 musicians from hundreds of international applicants to participate in a two-week Artist-in-residence/residency, where they experiment with sounds, records and produce tracks, and implement workshops through brainstorming with local educators, organizers and entrepreneurs. These compositions and workshops are taken on the road for a two-week-long tour of performances, youth workshops and public music making. Dosti Music Project
The Dosti Music Project is an initiative of Found Sound Nation and the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad that began in 2014. The project brings together musicians from Pakistan, India and the United States for a month-long program to create and record music and then to showcase material on a short tour.
