Fouad Naffah
Fouad Naffah ( Arabic: فؤاد نفاع; M 1 March 1925 – 9 April 2017) was a Lebanese politician and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Finance and deputy for Keserwan (1960–1964, and 1972–1992). He held cabinet posts of Minister of Agriculture (March – May 1972), Finance (1972–1973) and Foreign Affairs (1973–1974). He was also a potential Presidential candidate at the end of the 1980s. Early life and education Born in Zouk Mikael, Keserwan on 1 March 1925, Naffah graduated from Université Saint-Joseph with a Bachelor's degree in Law in 1946. Political career He became involved in politics in 1951 and was elected as a member of parliament for Keserwan in 1960, and then re-elected in 1972. Kiryat Shmona
Kiryat Shmona ( he, קִרְיַת שְׁמוֹנָה, ''lit.'' Town of the Eight) is a city in the Northern District of Israel on the western slopes of the Hula Valley near the Lebanese border. The city was named after the eight people, including Joseph Trumpeldor, who died in 1920 defending Tel Hai. In it had a population of , the majority of whom are Jews, particularly of Moroccan descent. Located near the Israel–Lebanon border, Kiryat Shmona is Israel's northernmost city. Samir Atallah ( ar, سمير عطاالله) (born 24 June 1941 ) is a Lebanese journalist, author and political analyst. Life Samir Atallah was born near Jezzine, Lebanon in a small village called Bteddine El Loqch. Atallah is married to May Francis, from a Southern town called (Mieh ou Mieh) near Saida and has two children, Nasri and Maria. He resides in Beirut. His son Nasri Atallah is also a writer, and works in the digital media field. Journalism and literary career Atallah writes a daily column in the Arab newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat and a weekly editorial in the Lebanese daily An-Nahar. He is a regular guest on Lebanese and Arab television and radio stations as a political and social commentator. Amine Pierre Gemayel ( ar, أمين بيار الجميٌل ; (born 22 January 1942) is a Lebanese Maronite politician who served as President of Lebanon from 1982 to 1988. Born in Bikfaya, his father was Pierre Gemayel, the founder of the Kataeb Party. He worked as a lawyer, then was elected as a deputy for Northern Metn in 1970 by-election, following the death of his uncle, Maurice Gemayel, and once again in the 1972 general election. At the start of the Lebanese Civil War, the Phalanges were a member of the Lebanese Front, allied with Syria against the leftist National Movement. However, Syria became their enemy, while they started receiving the support of Israel. Chehabism (; also spelt Shehabism) is a political ideology in Lebanon which follows the principals of former president and army general Fouad Chehab and Arab nationalism. The ideology later influenced the presidency of Charles Helou and Élias Serkis. Development 1958-1963 Fouad Chehab's presidency was a delicate balancing act of maintaining relative harmony between the nation's Christian and Muslim populations. He followed the path and principles of dialogue and moderation coupled with public reforms, which came to be known as Chehabism.
