Eduard Punset i Casals (; 9 November 1936 – 22 May 2019) was a Spanish politician, lawyer, economist, and science popularizer. He held a degree in Law from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and a Master's in Economic Sciences from the University of London. He was an economic writer for the BBC, economics director of the Latin American edition of the newsweekly '' The Economist'', and an economist for the International Monetary Fund in the United States and Haiti. Centrism is a political outlook or position involving acceptance or support of a balance of social equality and a degree of social hierarchy while opposing political changes that would result in a significant shift of society strongly to the left or the right. Liberal International (LI) is a worldwide organization of liberal political parties - a political international. It was founded in Oxford in 1947 and has become the pre-eminent network for liberal parties, aiming to strengthen liberalism around the world.
