Fort William Canadiens
The Fort William Canadians were a junior ice hockey team based in Fort William, Ontario, Canada. The Canadians were members of the Thunder Bay Junior A Hockey League and were Abbott Cup finalists three times. For a while, the ''Fort William Canadiens'' were a development club for the National Hockey League's Montreal Canadiens. Fort William, Ontario
Fort William was a city in Ontario, Canada, located on the Kaministiquia River, at its entrance to Lake Superior. It amalgamated with Port Arthur and the townships of Neebing and McIntyre to form the city of Thunder Bay in January 1970. Since then it has been the largest city in Northwestern Ontario. Stanley Baluik (born October 5, 1935) is a former Canadian ice hockey Center (ice hockey), centre and professional golfer. He played in 7 games for the Boston Bruins in the NHL during the 1959-60 NHL season, 1959-60 season, with the rest of his hockey career spent in various minor leagues. Melvin K. Pearson (born February 8, 1959) is a former college ice hockey player and the former head coach of the Michigan Wolverines men's ice hockey team. Pearson played for Michigan Tech from 1977 to 1981, then served as an assistant coach for the team from 1982 to 1988. Following the 1987–88 season, he spent 23 years as an assistant coach and associate head coach at Michigan under Red Berenson before returning to Michigan Tech as head coach in 2011. Donald Ernest Johns (December 13, 1937 – July 8, 2017) was a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman who played 153 games in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers, and Minnesota North Stars. He played in the Canadian minor leagues for the Fort William Canadiens and the Winnepeg Warriors (1957 to 1960) before signing with the Rangers, where he teamed with Harry Howell (ice hockey), Harry Howell, Bill Gadsby and Lou Fontinato. Peter John Goegan (March 6, 1934 – October 8, 2008) was a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman who played 383 games in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Detroit Red Wings, New York Rangers, and Minnesota North Stars between 1958 and 1968.
