Fort Road, Lahore
Fort Road, Lahore is a road in the Old Walled City of Lahore, Pakistan. It is one of Lahore's most famous and historically significant roads. It is so named because it flanks the Lahore Fort on its southern and eastern sides. Fort Road is a popular tourist destination in Lahore with some of Lahore's most important historical buildings, restaurants and antique shops situated on it. Famous landmarks on Fort Road include the world's fifth largest mosque, the Badshahi Mosque (for 313 years, the largest), the Lahore Fort, Coco's Den and Andaaz Restaurant. The Walled City of Lahore (Punjabi language, Punjabi & ur, , ''"Inner City"''), also known as Old City, forms the historic core of Lahore, Pakistan. The city was established around 1000 CE in the western half of the Walled City, which was fortified by a mud wall during the medieval era. The Badshahi Mosque (Urdu, Punjabi: ; literally ''The Royal Mosque'') is a Mughal-era congregational mosque in Lahore, capital of the Pakistani province of Punjab. The mosque is located west of Lahore Fort along the outskirts of the Walled City of Lahore, and is widely considered to be one of Lahore's most iconic landmarks. Fort Road Food Street
Fort Road Food Street ( ur, , ''Sarak-e-Khorak - Roshnai Darwaza'') is a food street located between Fort Road and Roshnai Gate of the Walled City in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. The street was reconstructed and opened in 2012 as a tourist attraction, by offering Lahori cuisine and views of Badshahi Mosque. The street was inaugurated on 21 January 2012, by Hamza Shahbaz Sharif to replace Gawalmandi Food Street. In 2013, the Walled City Lahore Authority (WCLA) took charge of the food street from the district government and gave it a major face-lift in collaboration with the private sector. De Montmorency College of Dentistry (DCD) is located in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. It is situated next to the Badshahi Masjid. The college is named after former Punjab Governor Sir Geoffrey Fitzhervey de Montmorency who remained in office till start of 1930s. It has been the highest merit college upon enrolment of new students consistently for years. Each year it enrols a hundred students in its 4 year BDS programme. King Edward Medical University (KEMU) () is a public medical university located in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. Founded in 1860, the university is named after King Edward VII. Established by the British Raj, named as Lahore Medical School. In 1868, the University of Dublin granted students of the Lahore Medical School ”privilege similar to the granted to students from English schools”. In 1871, the university added Mayo Hospital as an affiliated hospital, replacing the existing Anarkali Dispensary.
