Forfar United Junior Football Club are a Scottish football (soccer), football club based in Forfar, Angus, Scotland, Angus. The current club was formed in August 2020 following the amalgamation of the Forfar amateur team Lowson United and Forfar Albion (themselves formed in 1974 following the amalgamation of two existing local sides, Forfar Celtic (est. 1891) and Forfar East End (est. 1881)). After one season playing as Forfar East End Celtic, the name Albion was adopted in 1975. The club play at Guthrie Park and the team colours are maroon. Up until the end of the 2005–06 season, they played in Scottish Junior Football Tayside Division One, Tayside Division One of the Scottish Junior Football Association's Scottish Junior Football Association, East Region, Eastern Region. Forfar
Forfar ( sco, Farfar, gd, Baile Fharfair) is the county town of Angus, Scotland and the administrative centre for Angus Council, with a new multi-million pound office complex located on the outskirts of the town. As of 2021, the town has a population of 16,280. The town lies in Strathmore and is situated just off the main A90 road between Perth and Aberdeen, with Dundee (the nearest city) being 13 miles (21 km) away. It is approximately 5 miles (8 km) from Glamis Castle, seat of the Bowes-Lyon family and ancestral home of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, and where the late Princess Margaret, younger sister of Queen Elizabeth II, was born in 1930. The Scottish Junior Football Association (SJFA) is an affiliated national association of the Scottish Football Association and is the governing body for the junior grade of football in Scotland. The term "junior" refers to the level of football played, not the age of the players. The closest equivalent terminology would be non-League football in England, the difference being that junior football in Scotland was not similarly integrated into its football league system until 2021. Founded in 1886, the SJFA is responsible for disciplinary matters within the grade, certain player registration procedures and organising the annual Scottish Junior Cup. The Scottish Junior Football Association, East Region is one of two regions of the SJFA, which currently organises the Midlands Football League, Midlands League and local cup competitions. The SJFA was previously split into six regions, but in 2002 the decision was taken to reform into three to try to ensure more games between the top clubs and hence increase their revenues; at that time the East Region was created by amalgamating the former East Junior Football League, East (Lothians), Fife Junior Football League, Fife and Tayside Junior Football League, Tayside Regions.
