Fordyce School District 39 is a public school district in Fordyce, Arkansas, United States. The school district encompasses of land, in Dallas County and Calhoun County. Most of the district is in Dallas County, and there it includes Fordyce, Ivan, and Princeton. The district extends into Calhoun County. Fordyce, Arkansas
Fordyce is a small town in Dallas County, Arkansas, United States. Its population has been decreasing since the 1980's when the town reached an all time high of 5,175. The population in 2020 was 3,396 down from 4,300 at the 2010 census, and from 4,799 in 2000. The city is the county seat, home to the 1911 Dallas County Courthouse. Within Fordyce there are 19 sites listed on the National Register of Historic Places, including the Fordyce Home Accident Insurance Company. The town was named for Samuel W. Fordyce. Geography Fordyce is located in southeastern Dallas County, with the city's southern border following the Calhoun County line. U.S. Routes 79 and 167 bypass the city center to the north and west, while Arkansas Highway 8 passes through the downtown area. Calhoun County is a county located in the south central part of the U.S. state of Arkansas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 5,368, making it the least populous county in Arkansas. The county seat is Hampton. Calhoun County is Arkansas's 55th county, formed on December 6, 1850, and named for John C. Calhoun, a Vice President of the United States. The county is part of the Camden, AR Micropolitan Statistical Area. History This area was initially developed for plantation agriculture, based on large gangs of slave workers. The population was majority enslaved African Americans before the American Civil War. Norphlet School District 50 was a school district in Norphlet, Arkansas, Norphlet, Union County, Arkansas, United States. The district had more than 400 students in prekindergarten through grade 12 and employed more than 75 teachers and staff for its two schools (Norphlet Elementary School and Norphlet High School) and district offices. The final superintendent was Albert Snow. By 2014 the Norphlet school district had 388 students. Fordyce High School (FHS) is a comprehensive public high school located in Fordyce, Arkansas, United States.
