Force Majeure is a contemporary dance and dance theatre company based in Sydney, Australia, resident at Carriageworks cultural precinct. its artistic director is Danielle Micich. The company was established in 2002 by choreographer Kate Champion. Geoff Cobham was associate director of the company from 2002 to 2012, before moving to Adelaide to join the State Theatre Company of South Australia as lighting designer. Contemporary dance is a genre of dance performance that developed during the mid-twentieth century and has since grown to become one of the dominant genres for formally trained dancers throughout the world, with particularly strong popularity in the U.S. and Europe. Carriageworks
Carriageworks is a multi-arts urban cultural precinct located at the former Eveleigh Railway Workshops in Redfern, Sydney, Australia. Carriageworks showcases contemporary art and performing arts, as well as being used for filming, festivals, fairs and commercial exhibitions. Kate Champion
Kate Champion is an Australian choreographer and artistic director. Biography Champion is the incoming artistic director of Black Swan State Theatre Company. She was the founding artistic director/CEO of Force Majeure (2002–2015), an influential dance theatre company based in Sydney. Patch Theatre Company, formerly New Patch Theatre, is an Australian theatre company founded in 1972 and based in Adelaide, South Australia, which performs works for young children.
