For The Man Who Has Everything
"For the Man Who Has Everything" is a comic book story by writer Alan Moore and artist Dave Gibbons, first published in ''Superman Annual'' #11 (1985). It contains the first appearance of the Black Mercy, a magical, extraterrestrial, plant-like organism which, upon symbiotically attaching itself to its victims, incapacitates them while causing them to hallucinate living out their greatest fantasy. The story has been adapted for television: for the episode of the same name of the animated TV series ''Justice League Unlimited'', loosely into an episode of The CW's live-action ''Supergirl'' TV series titled " For the Girl Who Has Everything" and as an inspiration for the episode of Syfy live-action ''Krypton'' TV series titled "Mercy". The story was nominated for the 1986 Kirby Award for Best Single Issue. ''Superman'' is an ongoing American comic book series featuring the DC Comics superhero Superman as its main protagonist. Superman began as one of several anthology features in the National Periodical Publications comic book ''Action Comics'' #1 in June 1938. The strip proved so popular that National launched Superman into his own self-titled comic book, the first for any superhero, premiering with the cover date Summer 1939. Between 1986 and 2006 it was retitled, ''The Adventures of Superman'', while a new series used the title ''Superman''. In May 2006, it was returned to its original title and numbering. The title was canceled with issue #714 in 2011, and was relaunched with issue #1 the following month which ended its run in 2016. ''Supergirl'' is an American superhero fiction, superhero television series developed by Ali Adler, Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg that aired on CBS and later The CW from October 26, 2015 to November 9, 2021. It is based on the DC Comics character Supergirl (Kara Zor-El), of the same name, created by Otto Binder and Al Plastino. The series features Melissa Benoist in Kara Danvers, the title role. Supergirl is a costumed superheroine who is Superman's cousin and one of the last surviving Kryptonians from the planet Krypton (comics), Krypton. The Fortress of Solitude is a fictional fortress appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics, commonly in association with Superman. It is the place where Superman first learned about his true identity, heritage, and purpose on Earth. The fortress functions as a place of solace/occasional headquarters for Superman and is typically depicted as being in frozen tundra, away from civilization. Its predecessor, Superman's "Secret Citadel", first appeared in ''Superman (comic book), Superman'' #17, where it was said to be built into a mountain on the outskirts of Metropolis (comics), Metropolis. By issue #58 (May–June 1949) it is referred to as the Fortress of Solitude, seems at a glance to be a freestanding castle, and is said to be located in a "polar waste".
