Footballers' Footballer of the Year Awards ( bg, Награди Футболист на футболистите) are annual association football awards for the best player of the year, best young player of the year and best manager of the year in Bulgarian football. The awards have been presented since the 2001–02 season and the winners are chosen by a vote amongst the members of the Bulgarian football players' union, the Association of Bulgarian footballers (ABF). Every spring, before the end of the Bulgarian football championship season, a shortlist of nominees is prepared by the ABF in consultation with football journalists, players and managers. Association football, more commonly known as football or soccer, is a team sport played between two teams of 11 players who primarily use their feet to propel the ball around a rectangular field called a pitch. Martin Kamburov ( bg, Мартин Камбуров; born 13 October 1980) is a former Bulgarian professional footballer who played as a striker. He is the top scorer in Bulgarian First League history with 256 goals. Kamburov spent the majority of his career with Lokomotiv Plovdiv. He is Lokomotiv's all-time 2nd highest goalscorer in the Bulgarian League, scoring 145 goals in his five periods with the club. Tsvetan Valentinov Genkov ( bg, Цветан Валентинов Генков; born 8 February 1984) is a Bulgarian footballer who plays as a striker for OFK Kostinbrod. Stanislav Angelov ( bg, Станислав Ангелов; born 12 April 1978), also known as Peleto ( bg, Пелето), is a former Bulgarian footballer and currently owner and manager of Levski-Rakovski. PFC Slavia Sofia ( bg, ПФК Славия София) is a Bulgarian professional association football club based in Sofia, which currently competes in the top tier of the Bulgarian football league system, the First League.
