Football League Tonight
''Football League Tonight'' was a football highlights programme on Channel 5 in the United Kingdom. The show covered the English Football League and its cup competitions; the EFL Cup and the EFL Trophy. It was replaced for the 2018–19 season by ''EFL on Quest''. The show was sponsored by Sky Bet (also sponsors of the Football League), Ginsters and Evans Halshaw. Background Channel 5 regularly covered football from its launch in 1997, including the Scottish League Cup, Serie A, the UEFA Europa League and international football, but Football on 5 had been off air for three years after losing the rights to the Europa League. In May 2015 Channel 5 won the rights to broadcast highlights for the Football League and the Football League Cup from the 2015–16 in a three-year deal. Kelly Cates (née Dalglish) is a Scottish presenter, currently working for Sky Sports, Radio 5 Live, and ESPN. Early life Born in Glasgow, Kelly is the eldest of four children of former Celtic and Liverpool player and manager Sir Kenny Dalglish and his wife Marina and grew up in Southport. The Football League Show
''The Football League Show'' is a BBC One football television show, primarily hosted by Manish Bhasin. It features match highlights from the Championship, League One and League Two. It began on 8 August 2009, at 11:45 pm and immediately followed ''Match of the Day'' on Saturdays. Similar to other BBC Sport studio shows, UK-based users of the BBC website could watch a live simulcast of the programme. The programme was made in Studio C at IMG studios, London. Football League highlights moved to Channel 5 for the 2015–2016 season, thus ending the BBC's version of the programme. Format The programme had a similar format to ITV's ''Championship Goals'', with a featured match receiving full highlights and all the goals from the other matches (thus repeating Match of the Day's format used in the early to the mid-90s). Nick Halling is a British sports broadcaster and journalist who studied English & Theology at Leeds University. He was a boxing commentator for Sky Sports and presented their American football, as well as ice hockey, ten-pin bowling and numerous other events. Sue Thearle
Sue Thearle is a British journalist. She presented on the now defunct Setanta Sports News. She is currently a relief presenter on the BBC's 24-hour news channel BBC News. She was previously a sports presenter on the channel and on BBC Breakfast. After training as a journalist, Thearle began her career on a local newspaper in Hertfordshire. During her later days there, her assistant answered her phone to England captain Bobby Moore and sold the quotes Moore gave him to a national newspaper. Thearle later met Moore at an England game a month before his death. Thearle then moved to the Daily Telegraph as a football writer, and later presented and reported for Sky TV. Thearle joined BBC Breakfast in 1996 as a reporter, before being promoted to the presenting team. Daniel Chugerman (August 8, 1912 – November 21, 1991), known professionally as Daniel Mann, was an American stage, film and television director. Originally trained as an actor by Sanford Meisner, between 1952 and 1987 he directed over 31 feature films and made-for-television. Bill Leslie (born 1971) is a British football commentator. Biography Bill Leslie was born in London in 1971. Leslie's first broadcasting experience was with London radio station Capital Gold, working initially as a football reporter and secondary commentator before taking the lead role on Jonathan Pearce's departure to the BBC in 2002. His first television commentary experience was with Channel Five – covering the 2002 UEFA Under-21 Championship. Leslie transferred to Sky in 2003, initially to work on coverage of the UEFA Champions League and soon after helped launch Football First in 2004. Dave Farrar is a British broadcaster, specialising in television football commentary. He was Eurosport's number one commentator for ten years, joining the network in 1999 after spells with BBC Radio Lancashire and the BBC World Service as a replacement for Guy Mowbray.
