The men's football tournament at the 2018 Asian Games was held from 10 August to 1 September 2018. It was the 17th edition of the Football at the Asian Games, men's tournament. In this tournament, 25 teams played in the men's competition. South Korea national under-23 football team, South Korea were the gold medal holders when they won Football at the 2014 Asian Games – Men's tournament, the tournament in 2014. They managed to retain their title. Competition schedule The match schedule of the men's tournament was unveiled on 15 February 2018. Venues The tournament was held in four venues across four cities. Wibawa Mukti Stadium, or officially Stadion Wibawa Mukti, is a multi-purpose stadium located in Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, West Java, Indonesia. It is currently used mostly for football matches. A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead.
