Football (Russian Magazine)
''Football'' (russian: Футбол) was a weekly magazine about football and hockey, published since May 1960 until June 2019. It was a main informational partner of the Football Federation of the Soviet Union. Since 1964 it was conducting polls for the main annual footballers' honours known as the Soviet Footballer of the Year and later Footballer of the Year in Russia. It is a media sponsor of the Russian Football Union and the Professional Football League. Since January 2007, in each room are printed posters of teams and players. History The first ''Football'' weekly issue was published May 29, 1960 as a sunday magazine of Sovetsky Sport. Before that, the chairman of Football Federation of the Soviet Union Valentin Granatkin on one of said plenums of the alleged publication of the journal. Football Federation Of The Soviet Union
The Football Federation of the USSR (russian: Федерация футбола СССР) was a governing body of football in the Soviet Union and since 1972 the main governing body of football in the country. The Federation was created late in 1934 by the decision of the '' Supreme Council of Physical Culture'' of the USSR (russian: Высший Совет Физической Культуры, VSFK) as its sports section governing specifically football. It was the only organization that obtained recognition of FIFA in 1946. Viktor Ponedelnik
Viktor Vladimirovich Ponedelnik (russian: Виктор Владимирович Понедельник, 22 May 1937 – 5 December 2020) was a Russian footballer and manager, who played for the Soviet Union national team. Biography Ponedelnik first started playing for a local team, Rostselmash, in 1956. In 1958, he switched to ''SKA Rostov-on-Don'' and was invited to join the Soviet national team. In the 1960 European Championship, the only major Championship ever won by the Soviet Union, Ponedelnik headed home the winning goal in extra time in the final game against Yugoslavia. Ponedelnik retired in 1966 after gaining weight and undergoing surgery for appendicitis. He scored 20 (according to some accounts, 21) goals in 29 games for his country. ''Red Dawn'' is a 1984 American action drama film directed by John Milius with a screenplay by Milius and Kevin Reynolds. The award Soviet Footballer of the Year was awarded to the best footballer of the Soviet Union from 1964 until 1991. The poll was conducted among journalists by the weekly sport newspaper '' Football'' (Football-Hockey). Each journalist named his own top three player every year. Each place carried a point weight such as 1st place was worth 3 pts., 2nd - 2, and 3rd - 1. The idea for the award appeared right after Lev Yashin has received Ballon d'Or award in 1963. The honours were awarded along with several other prizes and awards at the end of the competition season. For goalkeepers being not limited from the Soviet Footballer of the Year, also were awarded separate honours the "Best Goalkeeper of the Year".
