Louis Charles Folliot De Crenneville
Louis Charles Folliot de Crenneville (3 July 1763 – 21 June 1840) joined the French royal navy in the 1770s. During the French Revolution he abandoned the First French Republic and became an Émigré. Soon afterward, he tendered his services to Habsburg Austria. He earned promotion to general officer during the Napoleonic Wars and fought in all the major campaigns against his former country. He led a division during the War of the Sixth Coalition and remained in Austrian service until his death. Life Louis Charles Folliot de Crenneville was born in Metz on July 3, 1763. Early, he chose a military career. In 1778, he became an officer in the French Navy, where he remained until 1791. In 1792, he searched for a way to remain serviceable and loyal to his King. Count Franz Folliot de Crenneville ( Sopron, March 22, 1815 - Gmunden, June 22, 1888), was an Austrian feldzeugmeister (artillery general) and Oberstkämmerer of Emperor Franz Joseph. Biography Folliot de Crenneville was the son of Louis Charles Folliot de Crenneville, a French nobleman who served in the Austrian army since the French Revolution. Franz Folliot de Crenneville also joined the Austrian army and quickly made a career there. In 1857 he was promoted to Lieutenant-Field Marshal and became a Division General in Kolozsvár (Transylvania) and Croatia. Afterwards he distinguished himself at the Battle of Solferino, after which he was appointed Secretary and First Adjutant-General of the Emperor. His brother Ludwig was Governor of Transylvania from 1860 until 1867, when it became an integral part of the kingdom of Hungary. Philippe Folliot (born 14 July 1963 in Albi, Tarn) is a French politician who serves as a member of the National Assembly of France, representing the Tarn department. Sir Richard Rashleigh Folliott Scott, Baron Scott of Foscote, (born 2 October 1934) is a British judge, who formerly held the office of Lord of Appeal in Ordinary. Early life The son of Lieutenant-Colonel C. W. F. and Katharine Scott, Scott was born on 2 October 1934 and educated at Michaelhouse School, Natal in South Africa. He then studied at the University of Cape Town, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1954, and Trinity College, Cambridge, where he received a B.A ( Law Tripos) in 1957 and a Blue in rugby. He then spent a year as Bigelow Fellow at the University of Chicago, where he met his future wife, Rima Elisa Ripoll, who is from Panama. Sir Gerard Foliott Vaughan (11 June 1923 – 29 July 2003) was a British psychiatrist and politician, who reached ministerial rank during the Thatcher administration. He was perhaps most famous for losing a battle of wills with the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament's Joan Ruddock over the government's grant to the Citizens Advice Bureau, a battle that cost him his government post and permanently curtailed his political ambitions. Early life Gerard Vaughan was the son of a sugar planter, born and educated in what is now Mozambique. During the Second World War, his father joined the Royal Air Force as a pilot, and was killed. Follifoot is a village and civil parish in the Harrogate district of North Yorkshire, England. It is situated on the A658 road and south-east from the town centre of Harrogate. History The village name is derived from Old Norse translating as "place of the horse fight" and the village has a long association with horse sports. Follifoot is not listed in the ''Domesday Book'' and the earliest known record is as ''Pholifet'' in the 12th century. Anglo-Saxon remains have been discovered in and near to the village and an Anglian cross is displayed at the crossroads at the top of the village. In the 19th century the village was a thriving community supported by such commerce as the flax industry, tanning, tailors, joiners, a wheelwright, cordwainer and blacksmiths.
