Folkets Dagblad Politiken
''Politiken'', later named ''Folkets Dagblad - Politiken'' was a Swedish Communist newspaper that existed from April 1916 to August 1940. History and profile ''Politiken'' was launched in 1916, first issue published on 27 April that year, by the left-wing of the Swedish Social Democratic Party. The left-wing was expelled from the Party in the summer of 1917, and the Social Democratic Left, under the leadership of Zeth Höglund and Ture Nerman, became the Communist Party of Sweden, strongly supporting the Russia October Revolution and the Bolsheviks. ''Politiken'' also published many texts by international communist leaders. ''Politiken'' was first published two, later three times a week, but became a daily paper in 1917 and reached its peak in circulation in the early 1930s with approx. 30.000 issues printed every weekday. Ture Nerman
Ture Nerman (18 May 1886, in Norrköping – 7 October 1969) was a Swedish socialist. As a journalist and author, he was a well-known political activist in his time. He also wrote poems and songs. Nerman was a vegetarian and a strict teetotaler. Alcoholism was a major social problem in Sweden in the early 20th century, and Nerman considered alcohol to be a drug that made the working class passive instead of fighting for better conditions. Ture Nerman had younger twin brothers, the artist Einar Nerman and the archeologist Birger Nerman. Background Nerman grew up in a middle-class family in the working-class, industrial city of Norrköping. His father owned a bookstore in the city and had married an employee who was many years younger: she became the mother of Ture and his two younger brothers. The Left Party ( sv, Vänsterpartiet ; V) is a socialist political party in Sweden. On economic issues, the party opposes privatizations and advocates increased public expenditure. In foreign policy, the party is Eurosceptic, being opposed to the European Union, NATO, and Swedish entry into the eurozone. It attempted to get Sweden to join the Non-Aligned Movement in 1980, but did not succeed. The party is eco-socialist, and also supports anti-racism, feminism, and republicanism. It is placed on the left-wing of the political spectrum. Arvid Olsson (1888–1958) was a Swedish politician and trade unionist. He was one of the foremost leaders of the Socialist Party.Blomqvist, Håkan.
