Cecil George Savile Foljambe, 1st Earl of Liverpool, (7 November 1846 – 23 March 1907), known as The Lord Hawkesbury between 1893 and 1905, was a British Liberal politician. A great-nephew of Prime Minister Robert Jenkinson, 2nd Earl of Liverpool, he was Lord Steward of the Household under Sir Henry Campbell-Bannerman between 1905 and his death in 1907. He was the grandson of Sir Cecil Bishopp, 6th Baronet of Parham, his namesake. Foljambe was a noted ornithologist and was once visited by a young Franklin D. Roosevelt who made a trip specifically to see Foljambe's collection. Background Foljambe was born at Osberton Hall in Worksop, Nottinghamshire. Sir Francis Foljambe, 1st Baronet
Sir Francis Foljambe, 1st Baronet (died 1640) was Member of Parliament for Pontefract in 1626 and High Sheriff of Derbyshire in 1633. Biography Foljambe came from a well-established Derbyshire family whose residence was at Walton Hall, Chesterfield in Derbyshire. His father was Francis Foljambe, Esq. of Aldwarke. The family were Lords of the Manor of Tideswell from the fourteenth century, and also had estates at Bakewell and Darley Dale. One of his earliest recorded ancestors was Godfrey de Foljambe, Lord Chief Justice of Ireland (died 1376), whose elaborate tomb can still be seen in All Saints Church, Bakewell. Sir Francis was created a baronet on 24 July 1622 by James I. He was known for reducing the family estates by his over-indulgence and extravagance. Francis Ferrand Foljambe (1749–1814) was a British landowner and M.P. Born on 17 January 1749 in Aldwark, North Yorkshire, England as Francis Ferrand Moore, Foljambe changed it in 1776 as part of inheriting estates at Wadworth, Steeton, Westow, and Aldwark, Rotherham, Yorkshire, England. His family later moved to Osberton Hall, Scofton, Worksop. During his minority William Mason the poet was his guardian. He was elected M.P. for Yorkshire in a by-election in January 1784 (only 2 months prior to the General Election of 1784), High Sheriff of Yorkshire for 1787–88, and M.P. for Higham Ferrers, Northamptonshire in 1801, sitting until 1807. Foljambe first married Mary Arabella (1749-1790), second daughter (and later sole heiress) of John Thornhagh of Osberton and Sturton, Nottinghamshire and Arabella Savile. Francis John Savile Foljambe (9 April 1830 – 5 February 1917) was a British Liberal Member of Parliament. Early life Foljambe was born at Osberton Hall, near Worksop, Nottinghamshire on 9 April 1830. He was the eldest son and heir of George Savile Foljambe and Harriet Emily Mary Milner (a daughter of Sir William Milner, 4th Baronet). After his mother's death, his father remarried to Selina, Viscountess Milton, widow of William Charles FitzWilliam, Viscount Milton (son of the 5th Earl Fitzwilliam) and daughter of Charles Jenkinson, 3rd Earl of Liverpool. From this marriage, he had a younger half-brother, fellow Liberal politician Cecil Foljambe, 1st Earl of Liverpool, and a step-sister, Hon. Mary Selina Charlotte Fitzwilliam, who later married Henry Portman, 2nd Viscount Portman. He was educated at Eton and Christ Church, Oxford. George Foljambe
George Savile Foljambe (10 October 1856 – 13 September 1920) was an English first-class cricketer active 1879–82 who played for Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club, Nottinghamshire and Oxford University Cricket Club, Oxford University. He was born at Osberton Hall, near Worksop, Nottinghamshire, a son of Francis Foljambe (Liberal politician), Francis Foljambe, a Member of Parliament. He was educated at Eton College and Christ Church, Oxford. He served with the Sherwood Foresters until 1913 when he retired with the rank of Lieutenant colonel (United Kingdom), lieutenant colonel. During World War I he returned to service at the regimental depot, and later served with the Red Cross in France. He was appointed CB in 1917 "in recognition of services during the War. He died in Kensington. His son was the cricketer Edmond Foljambe.
