Foley Gallery
Foley Gallery is a contemporary art gallery in Manhattan, New York City, owned by Michael Foley. Since opening in 2004, Foley Gallery has moved from the Chelsea neighborhood to the Lower East Side in 2014. Among the artists Foley represents are Joseph Desler Costa, Wyatt Gallery, Sage Sohier, Martin Klimas, Simon Schubert, Henry Leutwyler and Ina Jang. Foley has previously shown work by Rosalind Solomon, Polixeni Papapetrou, Rachell Sumpter and Hank Willis Thomas. Background Michael Foley opened Foley Gallery in 2004. Years prior, Foley began art dealing by invitation of Frish Brandt, the former director, (now president) of Fraenkel Gallery. While under Brandt's direction, Foley became friendly with photographers Richard Misrach, Adam Fuss, and Hiroshi Sugimoto. Foley Gallery exhibited art from represented artist Simon Schubert during Volta Art Fair in 2015 and 2018. Sherri Littlefield joined Foley Gallery as Director in 2016. Contemporary Art Gallery
A contemporary art gallery is normally a commercial art gallery operated by an art dealer which specializes in displaying for sale contemporary art, usually new works of art by living artists. Hank Willis Thomas
Hank Willis Thomas (born 1976 in Plainfield, New Jersey; lives and works in Brooklyn, NY) is an American conceptual artist working primarily with themes related to identity, history, and popular culture. Early life and education Hank Willis Thomas was born in 1976 in Plainfield, New Jersey to Hank Thomas, a jazz musician, and Deborah Willis, artist, photographer, curator and educator. Thomas attended Duke Ellington School of the Arts as a Museum Studies student. Thomas holds a B.F.A. in Photography and Africana studies from New York University (1998) and an M.A./M.F.A. in Photography and Visual Criticism from the California College of the Arts (2004). Sherri Littlefield
Sherri Littlefield (born Sherri Nienass; January 24, 1987) also known as Sherri Nienass Littlefield, is an American artist, photographer, curator and art dealer. She is most known for her elaborate curatorial projects, and as the former director of Foley Gallery in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. In 2016, Littlefield founded treat gallery, a collaborative project that helps nonprofits and underrepresented artists through contemporary art. Adam Fuss
Adam Fuss (born 1961) is a British photographer. Early life Adam Fuss was born in England in 1961. His father manufactured women's coats and his mother was an Australian fashion model. Fuss's father suffered a stroke in 1963 and required constant care until his death in 1968. Fuss lived in Australia with his mother from 1967 to 1970 and again from 1971 to 1973. In 1980, he returned to Australia and began his career as a photographic apprentice at the Ogilvy & Mather Agency. In 1982 he moved to New York City and took a series of odd jobs, including that of a waiter in an art cafe and for parties at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Richard Misrach (born 1949) is an American photographer. He has photographed the deserts of the American West, and pursued projects that document the changes in the natural environment that have been wrought by various man-made factors such as urban sprawl, tourism, industrialization, floods, fires, petrochemical manufacturing, and the testing of explosives and nuclear weapons by the military. Oleg Frish is a Russian entertainer, singer, actor, television and radio personality, journalist, music historian, and is the Owner of New Age Media. Oleg was born in Zaporizhia, USSR into a family of musicians. His mother, Svetlana Frish, is a pianist and his father, Eugeny Frish, was longtime head of the children’s choir and an important member of the artistic community.
