Mysteryfunk
Garage A Trois is an American jazz quartet including drummer Stanton Moore, saxophonist Skerik, vibraphone and percussionist Mike Dillon and keyboardist Marco Benevento. They play a variety of music including rock, funk and jazz. History Garage A Trois was originally a trio founded by Moore, eight-string guitarist Charlie Hunter, and Skerik. It formed during the 1998 recording of Stanton Moore's debut ''All Kooked Out!'', a session that also yielded Garage A Trois' debut recording '' Mysteryfunk''. Both albums were produced by Dan Prothero on his independent Fog City Records label. They were also both recorded "live with no over dubs". Whereas ''All Kooked Out!'' was rehearsed, "straight-toned" and promoted as the initial release, ''Mysteryfunk'' was mostly improvised with electronically effected instruments and as Moore has stated had "all the freaky stuff." After success as a live act they took on vibraphonist and percussionist Mike Dillon. The quartet performed multiple ...

All Kooked Out!
''All Kooked Out!'' is the debut studio album by New Orleans-based drummer Stanton Moore. It was recorded entirely live in the studio with no overdubs and no headphones, in a week-long session that also yielded ''Mysteryfunk'', the debut album for Garage A Trois. Prior to this session, producer Dan Prothero worked with Moore on Galactic's first two albums. When Prothero asked Moore of who he'd like to play on his solo debut album he thought of eight-string guitarist Charlie Hunter and saxophonist Skerik who had both previously sat in with Galactic. Moore stated getting "Charlie Hunter and Skerik together would just be insane 'cause they're both just really fun guys to hang around with... quirky... funny and just great musicians." Regarding the album's title according to Moore, Prothero stated approvingly about Hunter, Skerik and Moore, "(you're) the biggest bunch a kookers I've ever met." Moore's line-up for his instrumental debut album also included several fellow New Orle ...

Record Label
A record label, or record company, is a brand or trademark of music recordings and music videos, or the company that owns it. Sometimes, a record label is also a publishing company that manages such brands and trademarks, coordinates the production, manufacture, distribution, marketing, promotion, and enforcement of copyright for sound recordings and music videos, while also conducting talent scouting and development of new artists, and maintaining contracts with recording artists and their managers. The term "record label", derives from the circular label in the center of a vinyl record which prominently displays the manufacturer's name, along with other information. Within the mainstream music industry, recording artists have traditionally been reliant upon record labels to broaden their consumer base, market their albums, and promote their singles on streaming services, radio, and television. MOFRO
JJ Grey & Mofro (formerly Mofro) is an American Southern soul-rock band from Jacksonville, Florida. History Early career The early days of Mofro can be traced back to the mid-nineties when John Higginbotham aka "JJ Grey" and Daryl Hance signed with a United Kingdom label and played shows in Europe as Mofro Magic. Grey and Hance met in their hometown of Jacksonville, Florida while working for an air conditioning company and developed a friendship through music. Their first band together was a rock band called Faith Nation followed by a funk band called Alma Zuma. The deal with the record label in London fell through, and Grey and Hance returned to their native Jacksonville and formed Mofro, then signed with Fog City Records in 2001. The name "Mofro" was coined by JJ Grey as an explanation of the sound that the band made. Grey says the word was originally a nickname that a co-worker gave him and Grey adopted it as the band name because it "sounded southern." Grey later changed th ...
