Heinrich Gustav Flörke
Heinrich Gustav Flörke (24 December 1764, in Altenkalden in Mecklenburg – 11 June 1835) was a German botanist and lichenologist. He initially studied theology and mathematics in Bützow, later studying medicine at the University of Jena. In 1816 he succeeded Ludolph Christian Treviranus (1779–1864) as professor of natural history at the University of Rostock, where he remained for the rest of his life. He specialized in the field of lichenology, being known for his investigations of the genus ''Cladonia''. During his career, he was highly critical of Swedish botanist Erik Acharius's work; e.g. ''Kritische Anmerkungen zu den Becherflechten in der Lichenographia universalis des Herrn Doctors und Ritters Erik Acharius'' (1810) - (Critical comments on the cup lichen in ''Lichenographia universalis'' of Erik Acharius). Randy Florke (born December 19, 1962) is an United States, American real estate and design executive specialized in country style. He is the owner of a real estate business, The Rural Connection, based in Sullivan County, New York and has written books on interior design. Early life and career Florke was born on a farm in Iowa to a family of German descent. He graduated from Washington High School (Washington, Iowa), Washington High School in 1981. Florke moved to New York City at the age of eighteen to model and enroll in a fashion course. He later started a real estate business, The Rural Connection, which sells homes in Sullivan County, New York. Florke has written articles for ''Country Living''. He has authored books on interior design.
