''Flume'' is the debut studio album by Australian electronic musician Flume. It was released on 9 November 2012, by Future Classic. The deluxe edition of the album was released on 12 November 2013. At the J Awards of 2013, the album won Australian Album of the Year. Critical reception Upon its release, ''Flume'' received generally positive reviews. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalised rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album holds an average score of 73, indicating "generally favorable reviews". Harley Edward Streten (born 5 November 1991), known professionally as Flume, is an Australian DJ and music producer. He is regarded as a pioneer of future bass who helped popularise the genre. His self-titled debut studio album, ''Flume'', was released in 2012 to positive reviews, topping the ARIA Albums Chart and reaching double-platinum accreditation in Australia. Flume has remixed songs from such artists as Lorde, Sam Smith, Arcade Fire, Hermitude and Disclosure. His second studio album, ''Skin'', was released in 2016, again topping the ARIA Albums Chart. The album won the Best Dance/Electronic Album at the 2017 Grammy Awards. The album gained international recognition from the album's first single, " Never Be like You", which was nominated for Best Dance Recording. ''Pitchfork'' (formerly ''Pitchfork Media'') is an American online music publication (currently owned by Condé Nast) that was launched in 1995 by writer Ryan Schreiber as an independent music blog. Schreiber started Pitchfork while working at a record store in suburban Minneapolis, and the website earned a reputation for its extensive coverage of indie rock music. It has since expanded and covers all kinds of music, including pop. Pitchfork was sold to Condé Nast in 2015, although Schreiber remained its editor-in-chief until he left the website in 2019. Initially based in Minneapolis, Pitchfork later moved to Chicago, and then Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Its offices are currently located in One World Trade Center alongside other Condé Nast publications. Fredrick Jamel Tipton (born June 14, 1982), better known by his stage name Freddie Gibbs, is an American rapper from Gary, Indiana. After initially being signed to Interscope Records in 2006, Gibbs recorded his debut studio album under the label. However, he was eventually dropped and the album was cancelled. Gibbs later signed with Young Jeezy's CTE World and released a number of mixtapes through the label, including 2012's highly acclaimed '' Baby Face Killa''. After leaving CTE in early 2013, Gibbs formed his own label, ''ESGN'', which was also the name of his debut studio album released in June of that year. James Clay Jones III (born August 9, 1982), better known by his stage name Boldy James, is an American rapper from Detroit, Michigan. A member of the Griselda collective, his debut album, ''My 1st Chemistry Set'', was released on October 15, 2013. Early life Boldy James was born James Clay Jones III on August 9, 1982, in Atlanta, Georgia to James Clay Jones Jr. and Toni K. Broadus. Alexander Albert Manzano (born 1987), better known as his stage name Alexander Spit, is an American rapper and record producer from Los Angeles, California. He released his commercial debut full-length on January 29, 2013 on Decon Records. Biography Spit grew up in the Bay Area to a Filipino mother and San Francisco-raised father. Spit's first foray into rap music was with a group called The Instant Messengers. At 21, Spit went solo and released his first album ''Open 24 Hours'' when he turned 23. Dennis Coles (born May 9, 1970), better known by his stage name Ghostface Killah, is an American rapper and a member of the hip hop group Wu-Tang Clan. Otis Redding
Otis Ray Redding Jr. (September 9, 1941 – December 10, 1967) was an American singer and songwriter. He is considered one of the greatest singers in the history of American popular music and a seminal artist in soul music and rhythm and blues. Nicknamed the " King of Soul", Redding's style of singing gained inspiration from the gospel music that preceded the genre. His singing style influenced many other soul artists of the 1960s. Redding was born in Dawson, Georgia, and at age two, moved to Macon. Redding quit school at age 15 to support his family, working with Little Richard's backing band, the Upsetters, and by performing in talent shows at the historic Douglass Theatre in Macon.
