Bant
Bant is one of the so-called green villages ''(Dutch: groendorpen)'' in the Dutch province of Flevoland. It is a part of the municipality of Noordoostpolder, and lies about 7 km north of Emmeloord. Name The name Bant is derived from the estates of ''Bant'' or ''Bantega'', which at one point existed in what is now the municipality of De Fryske Marren, and extended into the area that is now the Noordoostpolder. History Prison camp After World War II, before the founding of Bant, the site was used as a prisoner camp for Nazi-collaborators under the name ''Kamp Westvaart''. The camp was accommodated with watchtowers and armed guards. Several prominent collaborators served sentences in the camp. Avenhorn
Avenhorn is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Koggenland, and lies about 9 km west of Hoorn. History The village was first mentioned around 1312 as Lutekedrecht. The current name means "corner (of a dike) of Ave (person)". Avenhorn developed in the 13th century as a peat excavation settlement. The Dutch Reformed church is a single aisled church from 1642. In 1914, a ridge turret was added to the church. Avenhorn was home to 364 people in 1840. In 1884, a railway station was opened on the Zaandam to Enkhuizen railway line. It closed in 1940. Aerdenhout () is a village in the municipality of Bloemendaal, Netherlands. Located in the dunes between Haarlem and the beach town of Zandvoort, it ranks as the wealthiest town in the Netherlands. National Tulip Day
National Tulip Day (Dutch: Nationale Tulpendag) is an annual event in January that preludes the tulip season in the Netherlands. The event has been held on the Dam Square in the centre of Amsterdam since 2012. During this day a special garden of 200,000 tulips covers the square. In the morning people can view the tulips from a gangway, and in the afternoon they can pick tulips for free. The tulips are from North Holland. Breezand
Breezand is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Hollands Kroon, which is known for its flower bulbs, and lies about 7 km southeast of Den Helder. Overview The village was first mentioned in 1665 as Breesant, and means "wide sand" which refers to a former shoal to the north-east of Wieringen.
