Synopsis The novel recounts the adventures of an immature young person of distinct cockney type, who begins to fully satisfy her male admirers at a very early age, and manages to retain her physical virginity until the last few pages. According to the publisher Charles Carrington, "The book has no other pretension than to be thoroughly obscene".Carrington 1902, p. 140. Publication Th first edition was printed at Amsterdam for the author in the latter half of the year 1897: The first and limited edition was soon sold out, but it was immediately reprinted, "for the Erotica Biblion Society of London and New York", n.d. Haven, Kansas
Haven is a city in Reno County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 1,170. History Haven was laid out in 1886, and incorporated as a city in 1901. The first post office in Haven was established in 1873. The local high school football team was on the winning side of a lopsided football game against another school from across the county in Sylvia. Played in 1927 with a final score of 256–0, the game produced multiple national and state high school records. As of 2016, the state records include: Total points scored, points by both teams, widest margin, widest shutout, most touchdowns (38), and most rushing touchdowns (30). Also, Haven student Elvin McCoy holds state records for both individual points per game with 90 and individual touchdowns scored per game with 13. Flossie Wong-Staal
Flossie Wong-Staal (née Wong Yee Ching, ; August 27, 1946July 8, 2020) was a Chinese-American virologist and molecular biologist. She was the first scientist to clone HIV and determine the function of its genes, which was a major step in proving that HIV is the cause of AIDS. From 1990 to 2002, she held the Florence Riford Chair in AIDS Research at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). She was co-founder and, after retiring from UCSD, she became the chief scientific officer of Immusol, which was renamed Pharmaceuticals in 2007 when it transitioned to a drug development company focused on hepatitis C and continued as chief scientific officer. Early life Wong-Staal was born as Wong Yee Ching in Guangzhou, China, in 1946. The third child in her family of four, she grew up with two brothers and a sister.
