Flosi Sigurðsson
Flosi Sigurðsson (born 10 December 1960) is an Icelandic former basketball player and a former member of the Icelandic national team. He played college basketball for the University of Washington. Basketball Flosi started his senior team career with Fram where he played until he went to the United States to study at Capital High School in 1979. After graduating, he received offers from several prominent colleges, and eventually chose the University of Washington. National team career Flosi debuted with the Icelandic national team in March 1980, scoring 7 points against Armenia. In total, he played 15 games for Iceland. Personal life Flosi is the son of Erla Flosadóttir and former Icelandic national team player Sigurður Helgason. The center (C), or the centre, also known as the five or the pivot, is one of the five Basketball position, positions in a regulation basketball game. The center is normally the tallest player on the team, and often has a great deal of strength and body mass as well. In the NBA, the center is typically close to tall. They traditionally play close to the basket in the low post. Centers are valued for their ability to protect their own goal from high-percentage close attempts on defense, while scoring and rebounding with high efficiency on offense. In the 1950s and 1960s, George Mikan and Bill Russell were centerpieces of championship dynasties and defined early prototypical centers. Sigurður Helgason (basketball)
Sigurður Már Helgason (born 29 April 1940) is an Icelandic former basketball player and businessman. He played several seasons in the Icelandic Basketball Tournament and was a member of the Icelandic national basketball team. Club career Sigurður starred for Körfuknattleiksfélag Reykjavíkur (KFR) for more than a decade. On 17 March 1962, he scored 30 points in a victory against KR. In the fall of 1965, he helped KR win the annual Reykjavík City Tournament, which at the time was the second most important basketball competition in the country. In 1970, the club merged into Knattspyrnufélagið Valur and became its basketball department. Sigurður continued to play for the team under the new name, but decided to retire at the end of the 1971 season, citing his age and negative writings in certain newspapers towards him and other players.
