State Road 820 (SR 820), locally known as Pines Boulevard and Hollywood Boulevard, is a divided east–west highway serving southern Broward County, Florida. Its western terminus is an intersection with U.S. Highway 27 (US 27 or State Road 25) in Pembroke Pines, Florida; and its eastern terminus is a trumpet interchange with State Road A1A in Hollywood, Florida. SR 820 is the southernmost of three roads in Broward County that connects US 27 and A1A, the others being Sheridan Street and Griffin Road. Pembroke Pines is a city in southern Broward County, Florida, United States. The city is located 22 miles (35 km) north of Miami. The population of Pembroke Pines is 171,178 as of the 2020 census. It is a suburb of and the fourth-most populous city in the Miami metropolitan area, which was home to an estimated 6,012,331 people in 2015. State Road 5 (SR 5) is a mostly-unsigned state highway in the state of Florida. It is mainly signed as US 1 from its south end in Key West, Florida to Jacksonville, Florida, and US 17 from Jacksonville to the Georgia state line at the Saint Marys River. The Hollywood Boulevard Historic Business District is a U.S. historic district (designated as such on February 18, 1999) located in Hollywood, Florida. The district runs along Hollywood Boulevard, between 21st Avenue and Young Circle. It contains 34 historic buildings and two historic sites. The sites are Young Circle Park and Anniversary Park. Planning for the historic district began in 1995 at the approach of the 70th anniversary of the city. Dixie Highway was a United States auto trail first planned in 1914 to connect the Midwest with the South. It was part of a system and was expanded from an earlier Miami to Montreal highway. The final system is better understood as a network of connected paved roads, rather than one single highway. It was constructed and expanded from 1915 to 1929. The Dixie Highway was inspired by the example of the slightly earlier Lincoln Highway, the first road across the United States. The prime booster of both projects was promoter and businessman Carl G. Hollywood Fashion Center was a shopping mall located at the South East corner of Hollywood Boulevard ( State Road 820) and US 441 (State Road 7) in Hollywood, Florida. History The first store to open at the mall was anchor Burdines, which opened on October 5, 1970. The mall opened on November 1, 1971 with anchors Burdines, Jordan Marsh, J. C. Penney, and Richard's. Zayre opened at the mall in the former Richard's space in 1982. The mall began a serious decline in the 1990s, as it rapidly lost anchors. Ames, which had been converted from Zayre in 1988, closed in 1990 with the chain's Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing. Jordan Marsh closed in 1991, and both Burdines and JCPenney closed and moved to the new Pembroke Lakes Mall in 1992, leaving the mall anchorless.
