Florida State Road 53
State Road 53 (SR 53) is a north–south state highway in the panhandle of northern Florida. Its southern terminus is an interchange with Interstate 10 (I-10; which also carries the unsigned designation of SR 8) near Lee and Madison; the northern terminus is at the Georgia state line near Cherry Lake, Florida. Part of SR 53, from Harvey Greene Drive north to SR 14, is also signed SR 14 Truck, a rare special state highway in Florida. SR 53 continues northward from the state line as State Route 333 (SR 333). A southbound continuation of SR 53 is County Road 53, which ultimately ends at an intersection with U.S. Route 27 (US 27; which also carries the unsigned designation of SR 20) in Buckville (northwest of Mayo). The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is a decentralized agency charged with the establishment, maintenance, and regulation of public transportation in the state of Florida. The department was formed in 1969. It absorbed the powers of the State Road Department (SRD). The current Secretary of Transportation is Jared W. Perdue. State Route 333 (SR 333) is a south-to-north state highway located entirely within Brooks County in the south-central part of the U.S. state of Georgia. It connects the Florida state line, where the roadway continues as Florida State Road 53, with New Rock Hill, where it intersects SR 133, via Quitman. Route description SR 333 begins at the Florida state line southeast of Quitman, where the roadway continues as Florida State Road 53. North Florida Community College
North Florida College is a public community college in Madison, Florida. It is part of the Florida College System. It enrolls around 1,200 students and serves six rural counties in North Florida: Madison, Hamilton, Lafayette, Jefferson, Suwannee, and Taylor. The school was founded as North Florida Junior College in 1957, with classes beginning the following year. It merged with the historically black Suwannee River Junior College in 1966. In July 1995, the District Board of Trustees changed the institution's name to North Florida Community College. Its current name was adopted in 2019. State Road 10 (SR 10), also known as Atlantic Boulevard, is a major east–west state highway in the U.S. state of Florida. Mostly unsigned in favor of U.S. Highway 90, it runs from the Alabama state line (Perdido River) to Atlantic Beach. The only sections that are not signed as US 90 are north of Pensacola, where US 90 uses SR 10A and SR 10 is signed as U.S. Highway 90 Alternate, and east of south Jacksonville, where US 90 uses unsigned SR 212. State Road 20 (SR 20) is a east-to-west route across northern Florida and the Florida Panhandle in the United States. Route description Okaloosa County (Niceville and Bluewater Bay) SR 20 starts at SR 85 in Niceville as John Sims Parkway, which travels to Eglin AFB East Gate through Valparaiso as westbound SR 85 and southbound SR 397. SR 20 heads slightly southeast while SR 85 goes north towards Crestview. The road shortly after intersects the southern terminus of SR 285 as it passes by Niceville High School, reducing to four lanes from six lanes.
