State Road 55 (SR 55) is mainly the internal or secret designation of U.S. Route 19 through Florida, although it has appeared on maps and atlases on several occasions. State Road 55 originates at the Georgia state line north of Ashville, and ends at SR 684 in Bradenton. North of Perry, it is the secret route for US 221, continuing north into Georgia as Georgia State Route 76. South of Memphis, it is a secret designation for US 41; it is also a secret designation for US 301 in the Bradenton - Palmetto area, along a segment co-signed with US 41. The State Highway System of the U.S. state of Florida comprises the roads maintained by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) or a toll authority. The components are referred to officially as state roads, abbreviated as SR. History Prior to the 1945 renumbering, State Roads were given numbers in the order they were added to the system. The 1945 renumbering removed many roads that were never built and added some that had not existed prior to 1945. State Road 41 (SR 41) is the secret designation for U.S. Route 301 between Temple Terrace and Zephyrhills, Florida. It is known as Fort King Highway in Hillsborough County, and Fort King Road in Pasco County. Route description State Road 41 begins at Harney Road (County Road 580/ 43) at the embankment of a former railroad overpass, and curves underneath Interstate 75 with no access. It serves as the eastern terminus for State Road 582, as well as the unmarked County Road 582 in Thonotosassa. The road continues northeastward rejoining the aforementioned abandoned railroad line as both run through Hillsborough River State Park. Like much of US 301 between Bushnell and Bradenton, State Road 41 also runs parallel to the DeSoto Trail. Entering Pasco County, the road changes its name from Fort King Highway to Fort King Road. The MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre (originally Ford Amphitheatre and formerly 1-800-ASK-GARY Amphitheatre and Live Nation Amphitheatre) is an outdoor amphitheatre in East Lake-Orient Park, Florida. Palmetto, Florida
Palmetto is a city in Manatee County, Florida, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was listed as 13,323. It is part of the Bradenton-Sarasota-Venice, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. History A post office called Palmetto has been in operation since 1868. Samuel Sparks Lamb is considered the "Father of Palmetto," having surveyed and plotted the city at its outset and donated several plots of land. He owned a general merchandise store in town. Samuel Sparks Lamb was from Clarke County, Mississippi, and arrived in the area near the Manatee River in 1868 establishing Palmetto. Emerson Point Preserve
Emerson Point Preserve is a preserve in Manatee County, Florida, located west of Palmetto and at the western end of Snead Island. History The majority of Emerson Point was undeveloped until preliminary site plans were submitted to the County in the early 1980s for an eight-story condo on a three-acre site at the tip of Emerson Point. Due to local opposition, the County suspended the condo project after considering to seek public acquisition of the land. The initial portion of what was then referred to as "Emerson Point Park” was acquired by the State in 1991, with approximately 195 acres acquired under the Conservation and Recreation Lands (CARL) program (exists today as the Florida Forever program) on October 23, 1991, under a 70% State, 30% County funding initiative.
