Florida State Road 399
State Road 399 (SR 399) is a state road in Santa Rosa County, Florida. Although it only extends from U.S. Route 98 (US 98) to the Bob Sikes Bridge, County Road 399 (CR 399) continues over the bridge, along Santa Rosa Island, and back to US 98 via the Navarre Bridge. Other segments of CR 399 also exist on the mainland. Route description Beginning at a trumpet interchange with US 98– SR 30 in Gulf Breeze, SR 399 heads south to the end of state maintenance at the gore of the interchange. CR 399 continues south over the Bob Sikes Bridge, which crosses Santa Rosa Sound from the mainland to Santa Rosa Island. It then curves east at Pensacola Beach and heads east along the barrier island through the Gulf Islands National Seashore to Navarre Beach, where CR 399 turns north and crosses the Navarre Bridge back to the mainland. Pensacola Beach is an unincorporated community located on Santa Rosa Island, a barrier island, in Escambia County, Florida, United States. It is situated south of Pensacola (and Gulf Breeze connected via bridges spanning to the Fairpoint Peninsula and then to the island) in the Gulf of Mexico. As of the 2000 census, the community had a total population of 2,738. It has been described as "famous" for its ultra-white sand beaches. The State Highway System of the U.S. state of Florida comprises the roads maintained by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) or a toll authority. Fort Pickens
Fort Pickens is a pentagonal historic United States military fort on Santa Rosa Island in the Pensacola, Florida, area. It is named after American Revolutionary War hero Andrew Pickens. The fort was completed in 1834 and was one of the few forts in the South that remained in Union hands throughout the American Civil War. It remained in use until 1947. Fort Pickens is included within the Gulf Islands National Seashore, and as such, is administered by the National Park Service. Design Fort Pickens was part of the Third System of Fortifications, meant to enhance the old earthworks and simple, obsolete designs of the First and Second System of Fortifications. Garcon Point Bridge
The Garcon Point Bridge is a 2-lane toll bridge in Santa Rosa County, in the Florida panhandle. The bridge generally runs north - south and connects U.S. Route 98 east of Gulf Breeze, Florida to Interstate 10 and U.S. Route 90 west of Milton, Florida. The road and bridge uses the TOLL 281 shield on signage from US 98 to I-10. North of I-10 the road is signed solely as State Road 281. Exit signs on I-10 display both the State Road 281 and TOLL 281 shields. The bridge crosses East Bay, a large section of Pensacola Bay and serves as an evacuation route during hurricanes. SR 30 (FL)
State Road 30 (SR 30) is the mostly hidden Florida Department of Transportation designation for most of US 98 from the Florida-Alabama state line to east of Perry, Florida. In a 14-mile-long stretch west of Panama City, US 98 and SR 30 are separated by less than one mile (1.6 km), with SR 30 on Front Beach Road along the shore of the Gulf of Mexico in Hollywood Beach, Laguna Beach, and Panama City Beach, and US 98 inland (as unsigned State Road 30A) along Panama City Beach Parkway bypassing the beach communities. In 2009, the Florida DOT began signing Front Beach Road as SR 30, and removed US 98 Alt signs.
