Florida State Road 159
State Road 159 (SR 159) is a short north–south road that serves as a southwestern bypass of Havana in Gadsden County between SR 12 and U.S. Route 27 (US 27). The road continues north as County Road 159 (CR 159) to the Georgia border, where it becomes State Route 309. Another segment of County Road 159 can be found between US 90 near Midway and US 27 north of Scotland.Florida Department of Transportation, ''Official Florida Transportation Map'' (1998) Route description The highway begins at an intersection with US 27 southwest of downtown Havana. Immediately after the intersection there is a driveway for a store. The two-lane road makes a slight curve to the northwest crossing over a railroad. Havana is a town in Gadsden County, Florida, United States, and a suburb of Tallahassee. The population was 1,754 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tallahassee Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was named after Havana, Cuba, located about to the south. Geography Havana is located in northeastern Gadsden County at (30.624245, –84.414955). U.S. Route 27 passes through the center of town, leading southeast to the center of Tallahassee and north to Bainbridge, Georgia. State Road 12 (Florida)
State Road 12 (SR 12) is an east–west route in the Florida Panhandle, running from SR 20 in Bristol to U.S. Route 27 (US 27) in Havana. The route continues as County Road 12 (CR 12) on both ends, on the western end running south to SR 65, and on the east running to US 319. Route description SR 12 begins at SR 20 in Bristol, although originally it starts off heading in more of a northerly direction then curves more towards the east. The surroundings are primarily forestland, one side of which is burnt, until it reaches CR 270, a bi-county east-west route in Liberty and Gadsden Counties. Pine trees become more prominent after this and the next moderate intersection is with CR 1641 which spans southeast towards Hosford and northwest to Torreya State Park. State Route 309 (SR 309) is a north-south state highway located in the southwestern part of the U.S. state of Georgia. It exists entirely within Decatur County. U.S. Route 27 (US 27) in Florida is a north–south United States Highway. It runs from the South Florida Metropolitan Area northwest to the Tallahassee Metropolitan Statistical Area. Throughout the state, US 27 has been designated the Claude Pepper Memorial Highway by the Florida Legislature. It was named after long-time Florida statesman Claude Pepper, who served in both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. Bainbridge is a city in Decatur County, Georgia, United States. The city is the county seat of Decatur County. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 14,468. History The first European settlement in what is today Bainbridge was a trading post set up by James Burges in the late 18th century. From him comes the name Burges's Bluff. The town was named after U.S. Navy Commodore William Bainbridge, commander of the USS ''Constitution'' ("Old Ironsides"), and was incorporated on December 22, 1829.
