State Road 129 (SR 129), also known as McDuff Avenue, is a north–south road in western Jacksonville, Florida. Route description SR 129 begins at US 17/SR 15, intersecting with SR 228 (Post Street) one block north of the southern terminus. Ten blocks north of Post Street, it ends at an interchange with Interstate 10 (exit 360). South of the southern terminus of SR 129, McDuff Avenue continues southward, intersecting with Remington Street, and orientates itself in a southeastern direction as a four-lane road, bordering Avondale and Riverside as it goes northwest through mostly residential streets. Three blocks north of Park Street, it meets with Robert E. Lee High School on the western side of the road. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is a decentralized agency charged with the establishment, maintenance, and regulation of public transportation in the state of Florida. Duval County is in the northeastern part of the U.S. state of Florida. As of the 2020 census, the population was 995,567, up from 864,263 in 2010. Roosevelt Boulevard is a six lane highway on the west side of Jacksonville, Florida. State Road 228 (SR 228) is a state highway in the northeastern part of the U.S. state of Florida. It exists in two distinct sections, separated by both Baker County Road 228 and Duval CR 228, which are former segments of SR 228. It is also the eastern end of one of three coast-to-coast Interstates, along with I-80 and I-90. US 90 (FL)
U.S. Route 90 (US 90) in the state of Florida is the northernmost east–west United States Numbered Highway in the state. US 90 passes through the county seats of all 15 counties on its course in Florida, and it is also the road upon which many of the county courthouses are located. It is never more than from Interstate 10 (I-10) throughout the state. It runs as a two-lane highway through most of the sparsely populated inland areas of the Florida Panhandle, widening to four lanes through and near several towns. State Road 15 (SR 15) is part of the Florida State Road System. This route is part of a multi two-state route 15 that begins at Florida and ends at Georgia at the North Carolina state line. Route description SR 15 runs from SR 80/ SR 880 at Belle Glade north along the east shore of Lake Okeechobee to Okeechobee. Then it runs north to SR 500 (US 192) at Holopaw, and northwest along SR 500 to Ashton (east of St. Cloud), where it ends. Jacksonville Consolidation
The Jacksonville Consolidation was the city-county consolidation of the governments of the City of Jacksonville and Duval County, Florida. It was effected on October 1, 1968. Background In 1934, the Florida Constitution was amended to give the Florida Legislature the “power to establish, alter or abolish, a Municipal corporation to be known as the City of Jacksonville, extending territorially throughout the present limits of Duval County," but for many years thereafter, the Legislature did not exercise the power. Through the 1960s, Jacksonville, like many other large cities in the US, suffered from the effects of urban sprawl, with the city losing tax base to new residential and business development in the suburbs, which also drew out jobs.
