The site broke the news of the FBI search of Mar-a-Lago. Schorsch and critics have described the site as operating a form of pay to play, giving favorable coverage in exchange for advertising dollars. Schorsch has called it "combination journalism". FBI Search Of Mar-a-Lago
On August8, 2022, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) executed a search warrant at Mar-a-Lago, the residence of former U.S. president Donald Trump in Palm Beach, Florida. The search warrant application was authorized by U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland and approved by United States magistrate judge, Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart, following a criminal referral by the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). Pay-to-play, sometimes pay-for-play or P2P, is a phrase used for a variety of situations in which money is exchanged for services or the privilege to engage in certain activities. The common denominator of all forms of pay-to-play is that one must pay to "get in the game", with the sports analogy frequently arising.
